What did I tell you guys when you drafted him? Gifted athlete. Great guy. Quick learner and a fast ass dude. If he wasn't at Missouri (which thank god he was so I could see him) he very well could of been a Heisman candidate. Do you know how many NCAA records he set? 59 NCAA, School and Big 12 records. He holds the NCAA Record for most rushing yards as a QB!!! Vince Young, WHO?!?!?! Here is a video comilation of him as a Missouri Quarterback if anyone missed it: mms://a1272.v10869e.c10869.g.vm.aka.../archive09/091805_mis_mfb_showbsmith_400k.wmv *On a side note: where can i purchase a brad smith jersey?
Most of us are real excited about his potential but maybe this thread could have waited until he does a few things in a regular season game. I told ya so doesn't quite hold up to well after 1 play in 1 pre-season game. That being said, I cannot wait to read your I told ya so post during the regular season.
Im like what this kid has done so far. Hopefully this is just the beginings of a dynamic playmaker for us but there is one thing that puzzles me. Is it just me or on that run it didnt seem like he is moving that fast, but for whatever reason he was still running past ppl like they were standing still. That whole play just looked crazy to me.
Wow we got people signing up just to talk about this guy it is getting pretty annoying. Yeah he had a nice touchdown in preseason off to canton!!
The guy is certainly a playmaker, but as a reciever he still has a lot of work to do. I dont even remember who was QB, might have been Bolly, but he had huge seperation down field and the QB lobbed it into the endzone. It was a little over thrown but it looked like Smith slowed down when he saw the ball. He probably could have made that play.
from watching him play on saturday it seems he lacks some WR instincts and missed a couple of opportunities to make some catches because he couldn't separate himself from the DB.
I thought so too. He obviously must be a burner, but he looks like he's running slow. Maybe he doesn't high step, and that's why it's so deceiving.
Reminds me of 1997 and Parcells first preseason game vs the Ravens. Leon Johnson's first touch was a screeen pass he caught and ran about 60 yards for a TD.
Looks like he's a raw talent who can make plays. I'm glad we got him, who knows? Sometimes those 4th round types end up being great players.
its almost like the way Randy Moss runs...i personally think he doesnt look fast...but his leg length and his stride make him fast as hell...they dont have to move as quick as barry sanders...who was about 6 inches shorter
whats wrong with him having fans? this is a jets site...brad is a jets player... people make threads about the jets
That's a good thing, right Boob ? I mean, Leon Johnson would have been awesome if it weren't for those injuries. IIRC, he was on the All-Jensen team along with RB James Taylor (who never played in the league) and MLB Terry Pierce. - Bob Jensen, May 11, 2000
Mizzou students must have had a ball watching this kid. I don't understand why he didn't have more hype leading up to the draft. I'd be willing to keep Penny and Clemens and make this kid the emergency QB. All the film I've seen on him reminds me of Vick, but with not as strong an arm. This kid CAN throw the rock, and pretty well. We at least need to have plenty of trick plays that utilize him.
