Great reviews.. Trying to remember what colors are natural up here in the Canyon.. Looks like all the mackerel shapes are sold out atm. I saw two but for the life of me, I don't remember ever seeing a pink mackerel. :)

Pink Mackerel works great on the wahoos

From what I read "sardine" has been great on the bluefin.... there were some available when I posted that link

Ha, no. Never caught a Bluefin (or a yellowfin for that matter).... just Blackfins here, and they run on the small side (an 20lber is a NICE one)

    What size madmacs?

if you're fishing 100# braid, You're prob gonna want 80# leader and 4x hooks

150mm MadCads.. 160mm madmacs are unicorns lately. I'll look for 4x circles my next trip to Cabelas.. I set my drag to 20# at strike using 60# leader. I checked today and I only have 175 ft of 80# mono topshot. Hopefully that will be enough.

Slow your roll ace.... your trip isnt for 6 months... you have plenty of time to find the ideal stuff.

Those 150 madscads look cool... for casting into a boil, but not the right ones for trolling from a headboat.

The heavier leader isnt for drag breaking strength... its for teeth cutting strength ;)

Well, there's a lot of fishing I got on schedule before the Tuna run and I'm pretty much ready. First up will be Gloucester for Haddock, Pollock and perhaps some Rosies if they're around. I'll be using SPJ and bait up there. That's a back to back fishing trip so I'll have plenty time at the rail! Before then, May 17th is the opening day for Black SeaBass. Hopefully they don't change the regs again. I'll probably hit them first before all the big ones are gone and only the marginal sized Bass are left.

I'm gonna wait on the madmacs right now. There's a Saltwater Fishing Expo happening in Mid March I'll be going to in Edison, NJ. I have a feeling NOMAD will have some product onsite.

Nice upgrade.... but the 2-speed TLDs are the only ones where I like the stock "football" handle.... the single speed 15,20,25 (I have all of them) come with some shitty stock handles (but I don't want to buy $80 handles for $150 reels... and need 4 ;)

One thing with the belt.... a definite must-have.... but if you hook a beast on the TLD, don't connect the harness lugs on the reel to the belt or you may have a bad day

Got it.. That time of year is a factor too. I think September is when the larger Tuna are around and prepping for migration.
