Projecting starters taken in the 6th round is kind of obscure if you ask me... It happens, just not too often...

I dont think we can be that comforatable with so many unproven player starting. It is pretty much a backwards or lateral move if we do not sign anyone. We need some impact players to sign. I just would not be happy if we didn't sign ONE person to help us out.

wright would split time with washington. jackson might not start right away, but could defintely work his way up. mcclain would be a steal in the sixth and would defintely start.

and i added some FA signings who would start.

Can't depend on all rookies to start/play...

Solid mock draft. Realisitcally, we'd get Crowder in the 3rd and Jackson in the 2nd (His stock is rising).

I doubt Wright will be there in the 5th.

    Why no Barton?

Harper would be a nice stopgap and Steinbeck would be a great signing. If we did get him though, we shouldn't bother with a lineman in the 1st, but maybe the 3rd or so. And if we get Harper, we can hold off on CB. Dyson-Harper-Miller-Poteat-Coleman sounds very good alone.

I'd be somewhat satisfied with that offseason.

It would be, except isnt Steinbeck a guard? And Blalock CAN play tackle, but he sucks there. So we would have Steinbeck AND Blalock at guard...

I may be mistaken though, correct me if I am wrong about the Steinbeck being a guard thing.

Yeah, he's more of a 4-3 DE but if he was drafted by a 3-4 team, he'd probably project to OLB because of his size(6'4 270) and ability to pursue plays laterally- among other things. Crowder has good athleticism but it never really translated to on-field production. He'll never be an elite rusher but he's a well-rounded player who will play his assignment...

A guy available in the late 2nd who could play 3-4 end is Ryan McBean. Brandon Mebane and Antonio Johnson are also coming off of solid Senior Bowl weeks.

I would also think he would be a better good fit for a 3-4 DE, or atleast better than a 3-4 OLB. He doesnt have the speed to play OLB in the 3-4, and his strength is in run stuffing, not pass rushing. If he could add 10-15 pounds, I think he would be perfect for a 3-4 DE.

    1) If we take an overrated dud like Woodley at 35, I'll break into tears
    2) Those offensive line moves are perfect, and it's amazing.
    3) Starting Kellen Clemmens virtually says "we're shooting for '08."
    4) We use our $28 million and cap room (plus more due to your cuts) to get 2 players that'll be $4-5 million each, and re-sign a bunch of backups for about $1 million each? Looking like the Patsies to me, but that may be what we should expect from Mangini and Tannenbaum.
    5) Wright is a great compliment to Washington, but probably won't be around that long.

Well I think Smith is the long time starter at FS, Coleman just isn't that good. And the only reason you'd get rid of Barton at this point is for salary cap purposes.

with that line, fb, and rb's, we are instantly a running team. Clemens wouldnt have to do much but throw down field and get first downs. ( i cant think of the word im looking for, opposite of gun slinger, ie: rothlisberger 05)

i believe clemens will push chad out and take over right from the begining.

    oh, and woodley's a beast.

I'd put my life savings on Chad being the starter for at least Week 1 next season.

And the word is "game manager." Or, the more colloquial term, "a Dilfer."

Yeah, Pennington will more than likely start.

Why is Woodley an "overrated dud?" What has he done to show that? I'd be happy with him at #57.

If we spend our first round pick on a guard and our big money free agent on a guard I'll be upset. I am all for strengthening the line and I am all for getting Blaylock or Steinbach but give me a true road grader for Right Tackle instead of having to transform one of those guys.

I also really like the Le'ron McClain pick. From what I've heard this guy could be the mack daddy of fullbacks.
