An email I sent to the NFL.com To whom it may concern, I hope someone can make sure this email gets forwarded to the commissioners’ office. I want to let him know that this will be the last year I will be purchasing the NFL Sunday ticket. I am a ten year NFL ticket subscriber and tired of paying a premium price for a sub standard product. You worry about players safety and growing your product over seas why don’t you do something about the horrendous officiating that rears it ugly head on a weekly basis. I have stopped watching the NBA due to its officiating issues and I will not pay to watch the NFL anymore. Every week there are mystery chop block penalties, over protection of the quarterbacks, explaining to my sons the differences between pass interference calls from week to week, or even getting the spot of the ball correct seems to be an issue. I am going to forward this email to all my friends and post it on my favorite message boards in hopes that others feel the same way as I do. By the looks of some of the empty stadiums you can’t afford to loose any more revenue. I hope this email leads to some sort of change. I would hate to see the sport that I am so passionate about, turn into the pro bowl which few watch.
so nice of you to add so much substance to the board. to the op, there are so many things wrong with this league right now that the officiating is not a top priority for me right now. while you are correct that it is completely hit or miss from play to play forget about game to game it is the nfl offices you are writing to and the over obsessive fans and morons who sit on tv getting paid to talk about football that have created the issue. the amount of instant replay going on and the way that everything is scrutinized all ends has really affected the game as well. i would rather still be watching on a big old 25 inch tv with grainy pictures than have to see the replay 100 times in hd 100 times a game.
brosef, i kinda of hear yeah, but come on officiating is officiating..whats more absurd is that we cant pay to just watch a single team...aka the jets.... i would pay up to 150 to be able to watch the jets online, friggin nfl ticket is a joke
I agree it seems officiating is sub-par this year, but just remember when its good its great you don't even realize it. My biggest concern is the amount of commercials and other break in actual game playing.
I don't quite follow that. You'd watch the Jets online for $150 but think $300 to watch all the teams on a TV set is bad?
The officiating has gotten worse and worse with each passing year. It will be touch football in the next decade. I totally empathize with the OP.
Its not the officiating. Here the deal with the refs - when you change rules so often, when the nuances are changed during seasons, when there is no rule book continuity, it affect the officials, and then it affects the game. PI calls have been reinterpreted so many times that the refs will call it just to be on the safe side. Blame the NFL for what the refs have to call, not the refs themselves. This is what the league wants, not what the refs want to do. You do what your employer tells you. Its that simple.
hey Jim, look, it's another 13 year old claiming to be an adult threatening to cancel his NFL ticket and give up the game, like we'd believe an adult would not only take the time to write such a ridiculous email but has the writing ability of a teenager in composing an argument. print it out for me on the tissue paper we picked up to make streamers with for Susie in accounting's birthday party, I'm gonna use it to wipe my ass after lunch. sure, no problem, buddy, sending that right over to the commish.
