23, 34, 40 and a 54 yard Field Goal. This guy is making punts and doing great on kick offs! Even making tackles! Today is Mike Nugent day! Who here is on the wagon?
I was just about to make a thread, but I got beat by a minute. :lol:This guy earned my trust. Then again though, hes been perfect from Giants Stadium. On the road though, thats a different story. Hes gotta be like this on the road too. Cant complain though. Just has to work on the kickoff kicks.
Well I'm not on the bandwagon just yet but Nugent has had a monster game today. The best by a Jet's kicker at least since Hall left.
I'm still not on the wagon just yet. He's a 2nd round pick, so we should expect him to be nailing anything from 50 yards and under. His 54 yarder was very impressive, but I still want more consistency out of him. I'd be alot less critical of him if he would at least kick the ball far and high enough of KOs, so that the other team doesn't always start around the 30 yard line.
Good for Nugent. He had a great game today. I'm sure his confidence is going to be much higher from weeks to come after his performance today.
Who cares, Elam has been a great kicker, probably the most reliable behind Vinateri and he hasn't kicked off in years.
Not that this makes him the "complete kicker" you have in your mind, but he did kick 3 kickoffs into the endzone today.
I appreciate the way he Stood Up for the 54 yarder ,decent kicker and will be needed to Stand Up more as our great season Continues GO MIKE GO JETS ..
I always liked the kid (but I wish his kick-offs went a little deeper) but anyway, I saw this stat in the Newark Star Ledger today (it was in an article about the Giants) I thought it was quite interesting. "Since the 2002 season, NFL kickers have converted just four (4) of 18 attempts from 50 or more yards in the 74 regular-season games played at Giants Stadium. That success rate of 22.2 percent is far below the league average of 54 percent in other stadium during that span."
But he's a much more reliable kicker than Nuge, which is why his KO's are overlooked. It was ONE GOOD GAME people. Let's see how he does the rest of the year.
