It's nonsensical. We still needed help in the secondary with the Adams pick so it makes perfect sense to take another safety if we think he helps the team solve the secondary problems more than whatever offensive player was available could help the offense.

Now that the dust has settled a little bit, I'm glad we opted for two safeties rather than two corners. Corners are easily neutralized by throwing away from them. You can't throw away from safeties all too well especially if you have two good ones.

I wonder who plays what though. They both seem a bit more tailor made for the strong safety spot, and Bowles seems to play a traditional cover 1 with the free safety deep and the strong safety as a rover.

The obvious would be Jamal Adams at strong safety in a Polamalu type of role. The Seahawks defense shows the importance of it and how effective good safety play can be in a base cover 3. Maybe we start to adopt that philosophy. Maye was credited as giving up ten touchdowns but I don't know too much about him to say whether it was truly his fault or not.

I don't like going safety-safety in back to back picks but it seems like we got two damn good football players and that ultimately is what the drafts about.

Not a big deal on the value side. We picked up a pick in a round we didn't have one. That value chart is bullshit especially when we're talking about these mid-rounds.

he Green & White were slated to pick No. 70, but struck a trade with Minnesota to move down nine spots. They also acquired the Vikings’ fifth-round pick, No. 160 overall.

I am only guessing, but I think the Jets are enamoured with these two because they can be interchangeable and play both spots.

That's all you can ask for....the bottom line.

They need good players every fucking where

Lmao at some of the ridiculous reactions that that pick caused. It's pathetic.

Jets have holes everywhere...getting 3 damn good football players that have produced at the highest level at positions of need, what more can you ask for?

We also picked up 2 extra picks tomorrow which gives us some nice flexibility

My initial reaction was what the fuck are we doing? Then I looked at the players and realized that we got some good players. So I think the reactions are a bit warranted given our horrible second round draft history.

But after taking a step back and realizing that we just made a huge weakness into a huge strength, I'm happy we did it. Still would've liked Dalvin Cook a lot, but the red flags about who he surrounds himself with could've been a terrible combination with all of the temptations of being near New York City. We also aren't hurting at running back so we can wait one more year.

We let the defense gel together this year. Trade up for one of the three potential top quarterbacks if we're not bad enough to take one, and let the defense carry the offense while the offense is extremely young next year.

I expect us to start taking offensive players the rest of the way here. A running back along with multiple offensive lineman that will be able to play in a year or by mid season.

Looking at this draft as well as what the Jets did the past two years, I feel that the Jets draft heavily based on their intended system (more on the defensive side anyway).

This worries me in the sense that if Woody's ADD kicks in and he decided to clean house again, we're probably looking at starting over on roster again too.

We are building a team around a defense and setting ourselves up for the best QB in years next year. You can almost feel the papers in Todd's desk rustling.
