This one for my buddy Sundayjack Raiders | Offense to feature less motion, shifting Mon, 19 Jun 2006 12:09:26 -0700 Jerry McDonald, writing for SportsLine.com, reports the Oakland Raiders' offense under new offensive coordinator Tom Walsh will likely use a lot less motion and shifting and a lot more straight-ahead aggression, setting up opponents for deep passes to WR Randy Moss and WR Jerry Porter. "We're not going to trick a lot of people," C Jake Grove said of the Raiders' new offensive philosophy. "We're going to come right at them and be better than they are, and that rests with the people up front." Raiders |Rookie McQuistan sees time at right guard Mon, 19 Jun 2006 12:01:44 -0700 Jerry McDonald, writing for SportsLine.com, reports Oakland Raiders OL Paul McQuistan played with the first-team offense at right guard during the team's most recent voluntary minicamp. Raiders | Time for Gallery to step up Mon, 19 Jun 2006 11:52:12 -0700 Jerry McDonald, writing for SportsLine.com, reports Oakland Raiders OT Robert Gallery is in line for a breakout season after being switched back to his natural position of left tackle by head coach Art Shell. According to Shell, Gallery should be worthy of Pro Bowl consideration this season. "I told him he's too good not to be mentioned for the Pro Bowl, and that we've got to get him there," Shell said. "He's accepted the challenge. And I'll tell you, his potential is way out there. He can be as good as he wants to be. I think he wants to be good. I really do." Raiders | Commitment to running Mon, 19 Jun 2006 11:24:44 -0700 Jerry McDonald, writing for SportsLine.com, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Art Shell has focused most of his attention on improving the play of the offensive line and running game since his hiring. Oakland has ranked 29th and last overall in rushing the last two seasons. "We're going to run the ball," OT Robert Gallery said. "We didn't run the ball last year or the last couple of years. At least it didn't feel like it. That helps a lot, when you wear people down and they're not pinning their ears back and bringing it every play because they know you're not going to run."
Meanwhile, Tom Walsh has a stack of Betamax tapes sitting on the corner of his desk, and a confused look on his face, wondering how he plays them on the "magic box" with the fancy television screen. Old Man Davis pops his head in and says, "Tommy, I saw some kid playing solitaire on that thing. When you figure it out, telegram me. I'm going upstairs to listen to the Victrola while I wait for my metamucil kicks in."
How many RBS are? L Jordan dosen't have to be. A long time ago 1994(last time Walsh was OC) that philosphy didn't work, but it could work for simple reason, he has much better talent now, than he had in 1994 unit. Let's look at personnel while we're at it. Are LTGallery and RT Langston Walker better tackles than Gerald Perry and Steve Wright? Are Moss, Porter, and Gabriel better than Brown, Jett, and Wright? Is Jordan better than Greg Robinson, Harvey Williams, or Napoleon McCallum? IS A Brooks a Better qb than Hoss? (more suited to more of a wCO offense than Raiders deep vertical game) If you can answer "yes" to those questions, than you think Walsh might have more talent to work with than he did last time around... Because when Walsh had BO Jackson his offense didn't look so bad.(okay Im trying to talk myself off the ledge and hope thats thwe case)
Joe, admit it, you cut and pasted this quote from one of my posts at the Raider board! Steal from the greats, baby!
Why the hell would you associate yourself with this idiot? God, I'd never talk to him again let alone give him permission to steal my posts. If I was related to him, I'd probably run away, too.
Um, actually he's associating himself with me since he pasted my quote, although I think he added the part about Brooks and Hoss. It's only a message board, it's not life and death man!
YEs you are right. Alot of Raider fans had the same theme. (just didn't list all the starters as throughly) YEs I did paste that quote . Which was basically comparing roster from 1994 to 2006. Yes I was wrong and should have posted the source. (giving credit to guy that did that research) BTw If that really you, what took you so long to get to Raiders board. Too few posts to be taken seriously.
I don't care about credit, just busting your balls. Take posters seriously based on what they say, not how many posts they have!
Wait! This is too rich! A Raider beat reporter submits his stuff to Sportsline.com, NJRaider steals it and posts it on a Raider board, then Jeaux steals and posts it here, as if Jerry McDonald were some sort of nationally-recognized football authority. Holy smokes, you guys are unbelievable. It's like a staff meeting at the National Enquirer:
Hey Jack, are you suggesting that I cut and pasted something from Jerry McDonald? My point is that they have better talent at some key positions than they had in '93 and '94, I wasn't quoting anyone else. But we all get information from beat writers, don't we? Now go back to your "Old Man in Diapers" jokebook, I'm sure there are still a few classics left that you haven't sprung on us yet!...
Hehe. . . my job is but to hold a mirror up to Raider Nation. But, you'll be pleased to know that the Sundayjack Manufacturing Co. is working on a new line for the fall - specially tailored for the young, impetuous, Raider fan. Turns out, it's a relatively easy product to make - you can just spin whatever it is you have on hand, scream "Raiders on the brink of a dynasty!!!" at the end (kind of like calling into CNN and yelling "Howard Stern Rules"), and prattle on for hours without any foundation. We made this product "user-friend" so that you don't have to waste time with such things as heights, weights, and 40-times of the players. By the looks of this thread, we think it's going to be a hot new seller. EDIT: Hey, I have to run to a meeting, but I trust you'll occupy yourself for an hour or so crafting something in the name of Truth and Justice For All . . . just for me? I'd be otherwise, crestfallen.
