LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson vs. DE Aaron Schobel: Schobel is having an excellent season for Buffalo and Ferguson has struggled against his speed and array of moves in the past, with Schobel wracking up seven sacks and five forced fumbles in his career against the Jets. He's had four sacks in his last three games against Ferguson. QB Mark Sanchez was rattled by the Saints' pressure two weeks ago. The Bills need turnovers to win. My big concern is any side that Lito is playing on will be targeted by the Bills. Luckily for us, it probably will be more of a grind it out game given the weather forecast for tomorrow. I'm just hoping the real DRex shows up tomorrow instead of the Divas we saw in Miami against the Buffalo running game.
I agree about the DIVAS! I am still sick over thatgame1 But look at it this way: We were horrible and they played great, probably above their heads. We only lost by 4 in the last few seconds. BUT my horror is that we came out DUH HERM-like flat and stayed that way. I think Pace will be much beetr in game two and I also think Lito is far better then LOWERY. Coleman.
Good point about Schobel, but don't you think D'Brick has improved since their last season, or that Callahan has seen this on tape and made adjustments/coached him up a bit? Besides, I don, think you can equate Sanchez's getting rattled by the Saints, to Brick alone..... He he made a LOT of flat out fear/desperate plays which he looked like he corrected against Miami...........just discussing it not challenging ya cause I havn't studied Schobel that much.....
Wow, 7 sacks and 5 fumbles? That seem awful lot to me. But wait, he's played 15 games against us. So 7 sacks in what equates to almost a season is not the best one can do. 5 fumbles are impressive, but Im sure most of them are strip sacks. A lot of sacks turn into strip sacks, especially if the QB is getting ready to throw it. I mean I can probably break it down and say Ellis has 6 sacks in his last 5 meetings, but that won't mean much tomorrow. My worry is TO. I believe he is their #2 WR and will lineup away from DR. He's got speed and height and has the ability to beat Lito (been there, done that). If our front 3-4 doesn't pressure the shitfaced QB, we may be in for a long evening.
So why not blanket him wit Revis, and let the lesser talents/match-ups be fodder for half time corrections........ ....:buffaloblows:
I know you don't want to overlook anyone, and I'm not, but my gut says this is the game we bounce back from 2 losses and make a statement on defense and offense. We are going to see lights out performance from both sides of the ball at the same time finally. The Jets lost a tough game to the Saints and got embarrassed on Monday Night... they are going to be playing for pride this time, which is much better than the big-headed ego they walked into Miami with. The wake up call has happened and Rex isn't slapping the snooze button this time...
I'm not too worried about it. Edwards isn't nicknamed Captain Checkdown for nothing. Lee Evans and Terrell Owens have done nothing this season. Edwards only seems to throw to his backs and tight ends. And if the wind is going to be 20 MPH, there's even less of a chance that either WR burns us. Besides, Sheppard isn't terrible. He's not Darrelle Revis, but he's at least serviceable. Granted, he's got a good deal to prove because he's barely played this year and now he's coming off an injury, but he's better than Lowery and Coleman.
Apparently you didn't hear that Gholston was mimicking Schobel in practice to get D'Brick ready for the game. I mean, they're practically the same player with the same proven track record. D'Brick should be just fine after practicing against the Vernonator.
I have very mixed feelings about DA BRICK. He really can be a liability in the run game and speed rushers do present him with some problems. Excuses were made for him in the beginning(10 sacks in one year)). How many sacks has JAKE LONG allowed in two years todate? One excuse was: There wasn't a pro-level OG next to FERGY so that is why he gave up so many sacks. He has one now and the sacks are still happening! In Miami when we scored the go ahead TD on the ground, the announcers said "the Jets OL just blew the Dolphins off the ball". Then a TV shot showed everyong but DA BRICK doing it! He was getting mauled! Some have deemed him our Franchise LT for the next 10 years! Will the BS and excuses ever stop? Results are what counts. I see inconsistency in DA BRICK's play up to this point. He dominates older, slower players with great and quick feet! Speed rushers are another matter! VG aka THE GHOST! I also have mixed feelings about him too. I will wait until the end of this season to see dramatic improvement or join in the BOO BIRD CHORUS where he is concerned!
I'm most worried about the Bills WR not covered by Revis. I actually think Lee Evans is more dangerous than TO, but it sounds like Revis is going to be on Owens all day, leaving Lito and Lowery to get blown up by Evans.
Arron is having a good season and the Brick better be playing great today or Sanchez will be throwing the pick 6'z.
