Honestly guys, this poll saying Miller should start over Barrett is ludicrous. Give me on example of where Miller actually covered a good receiver and played well. What has he done in his career yet to produce all this hype? Barrett is a very good corner with 5 int's even after missing 4 games. Yes, he does get burned but his play right now is atleast twice as good as Miller. Why do people actually think Miller is a good corner? Because he hits hard? Becuase he played well at Clemson? This really makes no sense to me.

With good coaching he could become a beast at CB. He showed me enough last year to make me think he could be ready this year to start. I don't think too many people have said Miller over Barrett 100%...

I have said Dyson at #1 CB and Miller and Barrett can compete in TC and preseason.

Miller is the much more physically gifted CB and could do some damage if given the oppurtunity.

Great post im one of the few that agrees wid u. Wut did he do last yr 2 make him the second option. In my opinion it will be Dyson at the one, Barett at the two they both have exp. and are vets. Miller has potential but has neither of those two, he would get picked on all day. Let him play nickel and continue to learn and give him a few yrs, u guys are rushing a unready product for real.

But where have you actually seen Miller's cover skills in the NFL? All I noticed is that he hits hard, not that he is a good cover corner.

That's where the coaching comes in buddy...He has all the tools to be an effective cover corner. That's why people are so excited to see him as the starter.

Miller was a rookie last year. He can only get better. He plays the run effectively & has closing speed if he gets beat. I think he'll have a monster year in '06.

Miller has tremedous upside, with his speed, agility, toughness, durability, and the right coaching can be a number 1 corner in the nfl.

Barrett is a good corner as a 2, and has reached his ceiling when it comes to physical play. With mangini and the coaching staff showing him technique barrett can be a much better player.
    Same with justin miller.

Rhodes will excel with this new system and will be recognized in the near future as a pro bowl safety.

Miller WAS first round material whom slipped to us...

I can see him turning into a #1 CB some day but not this year yet...

What tools just does Justin Miller have besides speed and youth? Probably 10000 athletes that meet that description. I of course understand it was his rookie season, but he was burnt toast while in as a starter.

That's 2 more then Barrett has. It really shouldn't come as a suprise, people always like the young guy with "potential" rather then the mediocre 30 year old that have proven himself to be "just ok". It gives you hope.

Agreed. Its not even a big deal anyway. Its not like anyone is saying Justin Miller would out perform Barrett by a ton. I think people are overreacting a bit to that being mentioned.

Please god no!! How many times did he fumble returns last year? I would get so pissed every time I saw Herm keep putting him back there to return punts and kickoffs because of how often he fumbled. Dwight better be our return guy.

I thought he showed a lot of promise as a corner though.

I suppose, but I have stated my claim in the past that Barrett is a legitimate #2 in this league.

He certainly is, no question. I just get more excited thinking about having two playmaking CB's on the field. Miller and Dyson could be an awesome duo with some solid coaching (mangini)

Also, I fell more comfortable having Barrett in the slot. That is apparently a very difficult position to play.

This isn't the kind of discussion you have about a player like David Barrett. On David Barrett's best day, he's mediocre-solid. While that's fine and dandy for Dave, I'd be looking for something a little bit better than that if I were the Jets. Justin Miller has the tools to be a very good corner in this league, but there's really only one way that'll happen, by him playing. I'm quite willing to let the kid take his lumps to improve himself for the long run, even if it means letting Barrett see more of the bench, or nickel duty.

D Barrett wasn't the reason both of those players were shut down. J abraham and the passrush were more reasons they were. J Abraham gone and Lets see how well Barrett does when QB has more time to throw the football.
