they ought to let him be a gunslinger! You can already see Favre getting antsy over the teams "gameplan" The Packers let him go because they wanted a QB who is gonna run the plays call, check down, etc... They were ready to move on from the 3 good plays, one bad play you get from Favre. Favre has always belived gameplans are overrated (I think he said it again just recently). But that is who he is! And if the Jets don't let him be who he is, then it was stupid to get him in the first place. Keep 6 guys in to protect (and a RB for the blitz) and let him make something happen. The Jets have some excellent receivers. This will open up the running game.
Ya know like I said earlier... Favre can only do so much. It's his 2nd game with this offense and they're pretty much banking on his hail-marys to save this team. The play to Stuckey? The play to Coles? All Favre. This guy is sitting with 2nd and 20's and fires it downfield because nothing else is working...Yeah his INT was bad, but that's Favre being Favre... I hope after the BYE week our offense opens up a little more instead of just letting Favre make plays on his own when the original play call is blown up.
You don't open that up throwing screens though. If teams know they need to play some sort of nickel down field, you could make some hay running the ball.
Just wait til Jesse gets back...then we'll have three guys capable of toting the rock and wearing down Ds. I think his return will make a difference. Shutdown D and Smashmouth O is the way to go.
every play action fake did well... but they only used it about 5 times. A lot of work needs to be done.
