The Jets have a chance to beat the Colts, Patriots & Steelers to advance to the SB for the first time since 1968-1969. We're not talking about the Dolphins, Chargers & Ravens here; we're talking Colts, Patriot & STEELERS! Thats magical. The Colts, Steelers & Patriots have been the only 3 AFC teams to win SB's since 2001. No road to the SB has ever been tougher on a team, never. I wouldn't want it any other way. Can you imagine the respect our D would earn under Rex? Shutting down Manning in the dome, beating up Brady in NE, along with taking out big Ben in Pittsburgh? Thats never been done before. Thats hard to believe. Our D may be respected by the league, but we'll become feared by everyone. This would be like going through Montana, Bradshaw & Aikman. It's a dream thats hard to believe. Sanchez would be known as the best young QB around. 5-1 during road playoff games, while beating the AFC's TOP 4 QB's in Rivers, Manning, Brady & Roethlisberger. Talk about a STAR being born.
As I was saying, we all have a chance to witness a star being born. If Sanchez can take out 3 future HOF QB's in Manning, Brady and Roethlisberger... He deserves to be known as the best young QB around. These guys combine for 6 SB rings over the past 10 years. It's crazy to imagine, but if the Jets win the SB... Mark Sanchez will be known as the greatest QB in Jets franchise history heading into his 3rd year. Joe Namath was 2-1 during the postseason with 1 championship. Mark Sanchez has the chance to go 6-1 during the postseason with 1 championship after only being in the league for 2 years. I'm still in shock what Rex has done for this franchise.
If Sanchez can do this, he'll be the most respected playoff QB since Brady. Having the most road playoff wins in history will do that. If he has a ring, he will be a god in New York. And he won't fall off like Eli did. He's a fucking winner.
Without question. Sanchez could become feared from here on out. I heard an announcer on ESPN say yesterday (cant remember who), that "if you had to pick 1 QB, to make 1 play, with the game on the line; it would be hard to bet against either Roethlisberger or Sanchez in that situation". Sanchez has arrived. He's arrived in an extremely short ammount of time too. Really? I never knew that Mick. Who holds the record for most road playoff wins? I mean, the great QB's mosty win home games, but still, Sanchez being the all time leader for road playoff wins is hard to imagine after only being in the league for 2 years. I agree. I've seen greatness in Sanchez since day one. He was born to play under the pressure of NY.
I wasn't totally specific. If Sanchez wins sunday, his 5th road playoff win will be the most in history. Right now he's tied.
Thats outstanding man. Do you know which QB's Sanchez is tied with? I'd love to see that list for myself. Also, does anyone know the QB record for most wins after only being in the league for 2 years? As of right now Sanchez is at 22, with a chance to have 24 career wins after only being in the league for 2 years. I'm sorry, but I refuse to count Sanchez only playing 1 series against the Bills as another win. He also sat out the Bucs game last year due to injury, thats how I came up with the #22.
Damn, #6 is with some really good company there Willis. Sanchez only needs 2 more wins to pass Marino in both wins after 2 years, as well as total career championships. Lets get it done. I'll settle for Sanchez being behind only Roethlisberger, as long as he beats Roethlisberger on Sunday. When I watch Sanchez play, I see something special. I see a Peyton Manning type of field general / leader in the making, I see another Favre in the ways that he celebrates with fire after big time plays, I see Roethlisberger ability in terms of being able to avoid the rush & extend the play, & I also see Elway in terms of playing style (this kid does not like to slide). I see something magical in this kid. My dream is to see Sanchez pass Montana as the all time great. He'll need to finish with the most regular season wins, postseason victories, as well as the most SB championships for that to happen. With 18 regular season wins, 6 postseason wins, & 1 SB ring after only 2 years... #6 could be on his way to greatness
There could very well be more, those were the first two that came to mind. The reason for both of there early success is different IMO though. Marino was just so freakin good right away that he lifted his team to another level. Roethlisberger was drafted to an already great team that could win with mediocre QB play. Ben did have a knack for making big plays early on though. I think Sanchez is closer to Roethlisberger in that regard, but he's been a better QB at this point in his career than Ben had at this point in his career IMO. Steelers fans will argue this, and it's not unreasonable to do so.
um, no shit.... seriously though this has been a major run which garners major respect and hopefully they can top it off. to me it feels just like 82-83 whare we had great wins on the road against the bengals and raiders. lets hope this similarities stop there and we take the bacon on sunday. jil
Can't disagree... in fact I'm going to start tagging some of my daughter's Christmas gifts as being from Mark "Nacho" Sanchez. That way he can become sort of a mythical figure as well as a superstar. Of course she might be a little weirded out being 17 already.
Hey, screw that kinda thinking man. We ain't the Bills... if we make it - we need to WIN IT!! Going to be a very tough road. Pittsburgh in the winter with the playoffs on the line. They got a lot of really good players and play tough football. This team is going to have to hold their focus and bring the same kinda anger/energy to this game as they did the Pats. They can do it... but 3 on the road is a lot to ask of anyone. Especially through the competition we have faced.
I just want this team to come out with the same emotional intensity as they did against the Steelers...I hope they know that that franchise has had our number in the playoffs as well. Most importantly, I hope the players realize how it felt losing to Indy in the championship game last year. Do not let it happen again boys.
Sanchez joined Super Bowl winners Len Dawson and Roger Staubach plus current players Jake Delhomme (Cleveland Browns) and Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens) for most road play off victories.
