https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2018/...zik-12-where-are-jets-2014-draft-picks-now/2/ At least Macc isn't nearly as inept as Idzik was.. Do you think Macc could have done a better job if he has 12 picks to use?
Media rehashing the Idzik 12 and the butt fumble every time they have nothing going on. Yawn. It’s over, move on.
Hell, there's folks still talking about Namath in '69. Its the offseason and for once its drama free so yeah, its a bit on the slow side.
He might have picked Derek Carr that year with that first round pick. And he could have revamped the OL while at it.
I would say one of the worst GMs ..could have grabbed Jimmie Garappolo and /or D Carr..clueless on how to trade up down or sideways Mac looks like genius compared to this guy who should have stuck to Accounting
People forget that Idzik cut Enunwa before resigning him. So really the only guy left from that draft class is Dozier.
Both guys have produced very little in terms of drafting, and their philosophies with defensive minded HC have been the same. Offensively the team has been the same under these GM and HC. If it were not for the FA spending in Macs first year they would be in Browns territory as an organization. Someday they will turn it around.....
Funny, for some odd reason the media doesn't rehash the Cheats for being Cheating shitbuckets so I constantly have to do it for them. It can be a burden at times, me against the world, but somebody has to do it. I lied. It's never a burden. No yawns on it, either. Never gets old, couldn't pay me to move on, Bernard Pollard in 2020. <=== Oops, I forgot, no politics.
Big difference is that one was just a stupid blooper of a play that really had no affect on any outcomes aside from entertaining low hanging fruit morons The other fuckup couldve transformed the state of this franchise FUCK JOHN IDZIK
The 2014 draft was monumentally terrible although I can understand half of the picks (excepting the terrible WRs and Dexter McDogshit). Let's not just Idzik-bash here, the 2014-2016 drafts may possibly go down as one of the worst three-year draft runs in our history (and there's some serious competition from the late 80s/early 90s). With a scouting team like ours, I have some sympathy with the Tannenbaum approach - let's get some old dude on the decline for 2-3 years for draft stock rather than whiff on the pick. Unfortunately, both options come back to bite you in the ass.
Since Mangini left, we have had incompetent people picking our players in the draft. Maccagnan had Leonard Williams and Jamal Adams fall to him. He does deserve credit for the trade up this year that netted us Darnold. To get the consensus top qb for 3 2nds was a great move. Idzik was a total disaster. Tannenbaum picked whoever the coaches wanted. Under Rex, our picks were terrible. Under Mangini we had some of our best drafts. I hope some of Macs non 1st round picks start paying dividends bc to blow picks on the guys he has from round 2 on will kill us
12 picks and zero to show for it,,unreal,,,,and you wonder why this franchise is a mess. The guy did not just throw away a pick or 2 he threw away 12 picks, simply amazing and almost impossible to do yet he did it !
coaches don't draft players, that's the GM's responsibility. But if you are going to credit Mangini for the GM's role, credit him for Gholston also, as well making Clemens his QB draft selection. also the pig wrestling Schelegel.
Idzik's 2014 offseason was collectively the worst I can recall. I don't think some posters on this site could even do that badly if they tried. It was painfully obvious while it was going on also. Pryor and Amaro were both 1 dimensional players who weren't even good at that dimension, and had terrible attitudes to boot. Saunders and Shaq Evans? In a tremendously deep WR draft. How did he not trade up in that draft? And don't even start me on FA, or lack thereof.
