i was just listening to the Herd on ESPN Radio and Collin mentioned how he and Todd McShay were discussing McShay's Mock Draft (i actually appreciate McShay's draft opinions because he seems to know what he's talking about and understands how good teams draft). anyway, he said this draft has college stars in the 5th and 6th rounds. an example is Dallas Baker. my question is, how does Baker drop that far? if he does, he's someone we should definitely consider taking in R5 -- especially if we're not targeting a TE. Baker would provide Chad with a big redzone target. he doesn't fit the burner specs that this Offense really lacks, but with Chad, a burner may not fit anyway. so is Baker an easy decision if he's sitting there on our R5 pick? are they any other players like this - "college stars" - who may drop into the late rounds that we can steal? cheers
florida wrs are always trash...and given that he didnt impress at the senior bowl or combine that hurt his stock a lot ...his numbers in college were not that great and he played for a great all around florida team better wrs have fallen further i would maybe take him after the 5th if he kept falling
Respectfully, I dont think its fair to say that FL WRs are always trash... it's not that there is something in the water there that manifests itself in the psyche and causes drops and bad routes... this idea is a throwback to Spurrier's time when his offense was so advanced and pass oriented that it often inflated WR #'s to a degree higher than they should have been in a more conventional college offense. I would guage todays WRs from Fla on an even par with any other program.
hmm.. yeah. i remember watching a few Florida games this past year where he stood out as being a big target with some good leaping ability. at the same time, you're right about Gator WR's generally not transitioning well to the NFL. and i guess he must have some deficiencies if he's projected to go this late. but if we don't take a WR or TE Day 1, it seems like he'd be a potentially good selection late. cheers
