Saw it today and enjoyed it. Fast paced, not complicated, no slow spots. Great CGI and the quality of the film shoot was second to none. I'm not sure what the critics were looking for but this movie, IMO served its purpose as pure entertainment. No Oscars in this one and it didn't set up for a sequel thank God. I liked this better than John Wick II. If you saw John Wick I, you're already ahead of the game with JW II and yes, it set up for a JW III. Go see The Wall. If you like basic action movies and not looking for an epic, this movie checks most of the boxes. Hell, you can even take the kids and Wifey/GF. Like I said, just good entertainment.
Ok, i was all over the place with my thinking. My first thought before opening the thread was, border wall? Couldn't be. Then i open it and see its a movie and i say to myself, Pink Floyds The Wall was not an action movie and that was 35 years ago. So i figure i better hit the Google Machine but while i am doing that it hits me, wall movie that was panned by the critics, has to be Matt Damon's movie on The Great Wall. Google comes up and i see i was wrong on all accounts but i had never even heard of the movie you are actually taking about. I am too out of touch.
Its not like the movie is getting a lot of buzz WB. I'm a Damon fan so I knew about it. The Critics were wrong about this one OR they were expecting far more than what this movie was intended to deliver. Just a action movie with good CGI, a decent plot with OK acting. Got some time to kill? see the movie. I didn't expect anything going in and was pleasantly surprised. Matinee material...
I usually only go to the movies once a year when someone inevitably gets me a Fandango Gift Card for Christmas, can't sit in a theater chair for that long, besides that it is Redbox and HBO. That, combined with me recording every TV show I watch to fast forward through commercials, means I almost never see the commercials for new movies. The Rebdox movies have previews but every one of them is already out on DVD. I'm just out touch on current movies. To give an idea where I am at, we just watched Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester By The Sea Friday night. Thought Hacksaw was a pretty good movie but how the hell Manchester by the Sea got so many Oscar nominations is beyond me, we couldn't even finish the damn thing, it was that boring. Guess I could always go back to the threads probably started months ago about these movies.
I'm a big Matt Damon fan, but I'm more sick of this kind of crap. The only one who can save an Eastern Asian country is...a white man. Shit needs to stop.
I thought this thread title was originally The Wall, not The Great Wall, so i thought it was about this movie. I'm really confused now.
Title was changed. its about the great wall. a racist movie about asian men not being able to defend themselves and relying on the white man to save them. apparently
I think it's just another of Cman's tricks to make some of us feel old, first the small pictures, now changing thread titles on us.
No different then exodus kings and gods with Christian Bale playing an Egyptian warrior lol. These movies tend to get really shitty reviews.
