even though it got called back, that play was sweet, and was a pass you know who couldnt make. its a sign of things to come for #4, #89, and maybe #87?
Favre likes the Jets WR because the remind him of what he had in GB. Good possession receivers who can get separation and YAC. This team will be good. Did you see those downfield throws? New to me...
Speaking of our receivers ... Brad Smith looked surprisingly good today. I have been real down on him but he looked like a real NFL receiver out there. Sweet 1 handed catch while falling down, nice hands and YAC on the bubble screen, nice hands on the comeback route on the sideline. He caught the ball with his hands and never showed any signs of bobbling it.
Game wasn't broadcasted here. Can't wait to watch it today on NFLN at 3. Will be the first time I view Favre as a Jet.
I was ready to get rid of those guys but def a nice performance my him. A good QB can make something out of nothing.
Smtih always has had potential, but his duel position situation halted everything, now he is just a WR i expect him to make a good strong contribution this season. Cotchery will have a career year, have said that ever since we got Favre, they seem to have good chemistry, he can spread out more, and he is one of the better receivers at getting YAC so his numbers will take a bump.
I really think our WR tandem is as good a tandem as Favre has ever played with . This team has serious potential with a legit starting QB now. We need to see improvement from the run blocking, if that happens the offense could be lethal.
I think the best part for the jets, is favre has proven, as lately as last season, that he can still win ball games without a run game. I mean, the packers went like 8-0 last season before there was ever a semblence of a run game. It was like a 70 - 30 pass offense. Just S W E E T. Still, the jets recievers look to be about what he had in GB. It is truly the amazing the difference I am seeing in them just in the preseason as opposed to last year's preseason. He doesn't look like a 38, almost 39 year old QB to me. Ran for a first down and got pulled down from behind out of bounds - that scared me for a second because thats how McNabb got hurt one time... of course I then remembered this is the Iron Man, and no way will a little pull down from behind be hurting this guy. Favre has played with concussions, a Broken Thumb on his throwing hand, numerous minor injuries and muscle pulls, and obviously a broken heart with the death of his father, and cancer treatment of his wife. I am glad he is on the jets.
The Packers have been my #2 team because of Brett Favre, seeing him on the Jets is beyond surreal for me. My heart skipped a beat last night when he took off running for the first down. Brett Favre has indeed been an iron man throughout his career but with the luck of the Jets fan he would get hurt scrambling for a meaningless first down run in a preseason game. I hope he doesn't play next week, the last thing we have to worry about is Brett Favre being ready for the opener. The guy with his helmet on looks like a kid out there, it is when he takes it off and exposes the gray hair that he looks like the 39 year old QB that he is. I really feel lucky to be able to watch him so closely for the rest of his career, hopefully he goes out the way he deserves, winning back to back SB titles the next two years.
Well said. Though the Packers may not be everyone's "secondary" team to root for. I'm sure we all share the same sentiments. I genuinely love Brett Favre, even through all of his faults. I can honestly say there couldn't be a better crowd to replace the love from Packers fans than us.
I love me some Cotchery. Haha, remember when everyone kept calling him Crotchery back in the day? Crotchery! C'mon. Yeah, sweet play, but I don't want to see such things called back in a regular season game, I can tell you that much.
