    ...Is our horrible offensive line.

With all this talk about Idzik not getting cornerbacks, Geno sucks, not enough offensive weapons, etc, what I fail to see Idzik being called out for his how bad this offensive line was and he failed to address it in the offseason. They aren't giving Geno any time to throw and more crucially, our running game has not succeeded when we face anyone who can actually stop the run. This has been a problem since they let Faneca and Woody go back in 2010. We've acquired stop gap guys and project guys since then and it hasn't worked out. Our only decent players on the line Ferguson and Mangold and they are getting older and it's showing. We need some serious players here, even more so than having offensive weapons. Decker and Amaro will be that much more dangerous if the QB has time to throw to them and we have a good run game. Hopefully Aboushi is one of those pieces, but this needs to be the #1 priority going into the offseason IMO.

    It gets better.

Not only are Brick and Mangold regressing but their compensation is increasing each year.

Brick's cap space goes up from $10+ mil this year to $14 mil in a year or two.

The OL needs a complete rebuild. With the possible exception of Dozier, they all need to go.

The offensive line hasn't been "horrible," just wildly inconsistent.

It was very good in the Oakland and Chicago games. It was ordinary against Green Bay. It was mediocre against Detroit and Denver. And it was absolutely fucking horrible against San Diego. At least, that's what I've seen, anyway.

The difference from when our line was very good was that, we could run it against teams and there was nothing they could do about it. Now, its much easier for teams to shut down the run and then watch Geno start struggling. If Geno couldn't move around to buy time, he would have been sacked a ton of times by now.

Inconsistent is the right word, they've generated holes in the run game relatively frequently, and they haven't been horrible. One of the reasons they look so bad in pass protection is because Geno's movement in the pocket is so bad. His timing an feel for blockers when looking down field is dreadful, plus they've been blitzed so many times more than the average offensive line because it's so easy to screw with Geno that way.

No doubt we could get better on the offensive line, but so much of what looks bad about them is a result of QB play. The false start penalties have got to stop, but generally they've been pretty good about other penalties.

Oh stop, they've been terrible. Not inconsistent, just down right terrible and decent at best. Winters has been a disaster, Colon a penalty machine, and brick is getting beat frequently. No Geno hasn't been great, but they are not playing well at all this season.

If Geno could make defenses pay for blitzing all the time, the offensive line would look so much better. Another problem is that they run so many run plays out of the shotgun. If Geno was playing from under center, the offensive line's job would be so so much easier. Usually teams with top notch passing attacks have much success running out of the shotgun, or teams with highly athletic running QB's (Kaepernick, RG3) .

Brick can't see Geno when he's pass protecting, he has to rely on Geno to move as he was trained to in practice. Geno regularly fails at this, allowing rushers to take advantage of an unsuspecting Brick. Geno either rolls out way to early or way too late, and it's a miracle we don't have more holding penalties at this point.

Ive watch him just plain get beat. This is not all about Geno. Now if you know anything about me ill gladly point out when Geno is messing up, but its not his job to block the guy. Plus hes the blindside protector, how are you even making thats argument? A 100 year old jared allen blew by brick, hows that anyones fault other than brick? Even namath is calling out the oline.

Thats all true but you cant sit here and say Brick is still a top notch LT in the game he lost some quickness and strenght.

I don't know about a total rebuild but you make great points about the cap space. No way they can carry Brick whose been getting regularly beat with that kind of a contract. Mangold stays hard to replace him whenever he's out of the lineup it's a recipe for disaster. In next years draft OL has to be a priority.

The offensive line is a huge issue and is only going to get worse. So yes, the Jets have a young Dline but now our Oline has to be rebuilt.....major issue imo.

Agree. Besides Folk who has been excellent, our special teams have been very disappointing. Muffed punts, poor kickoff coverage, and little to no return game.

Geno has good running ability. He also has awful decision making ability. There have been numerous run opportunities for Geno in recent weeks but he either does not go or decides too late. It is not only because of the line play. Sometimes he is back there a long time. It is recognition on his part, mostly, and sometimes good coverage. When he runs well, the offense does a lot better

The o-line had easily it's worst game against Denver. The sack numbers may not show it, but Geno was facing constant pressure.

Totally agree. And guess what? The two most important attributes of an NFL quarterback are: 1) decision making and 2) accuracy.

I thought their worst game was clearly in San Diego, but I agree that they weren't good against Denver either.
