I know he came back to score on that drive but he still didnt look so well on the sidelines and there is no way the Pats would not throw to him the entire second half without having something wrong with him...

so we might say that was a good penalty?

I didn't think it looked that heavy a hit, and anyway, everyone knows that Welker is indestructible.

Hitting a guy like that is never a good penalty. Smith could have really done in Welker's head. Not only that, but its extended their drive. Stupid stupid penalty.

I certainly don't want to see anyone get hurt, but I would say it did have an effect on Welker. When I re-watch the game, I will be focusing on Welker to see what kind of coverage we put on him to see if that is what took him out of the game.

Injuries don't affect Welker, our defense stepped up.

Brady also got a little too Moss-happy with Revis out of the game and forced a few his way.

    it was a bullshit call

    typical in any patriots game

but it knocked welker around a little and took him off his game so it worked

Do you think Smith will get a suspension? Welker did come back, but this is Smith's second offense. Pool is back so we could probably take the hit.

No, he won't be suspended for that. It was BS that he was suspended after the hit on Boldin, considering Boldin was pushed from behind by Rhodes that caused the hit to his head.

any injurey is bad and i wish well to every player who got hurt

i was talking about the effect it has on the Pats play calling in the second half

it just seem wierd for me that the Pats didnt go to Welker the entire second half.

It was a forearm shiver to the head, correct?

I missed the play and only caught a fleeting glimpse of the video.

Yes it was, and as a repeat offenser I would expect Smith to get a suspension for it. Listen to the replay, you can hear his helmet hit Welkers. He's as good as done for at least a week I would think.

Not only did he comeback and score a TD, that penalty extended the drive and allowed them to score their other TD. Bad penalty could have been costly, although I think there was some good acting by Welker on that one.

So did Smith think that cutting Eric Barton left an opening for asshole penalties?

I was absolutely fuming when that happened! Stupid fucking penalty, but aggressive DBs are subject to that kind of behavior. I'd like to know what kind of coverages we rolled onto WW in the 2nd half because he completely vanished.

From where I wad sitting it looked like a light hit, and a ticky tack flag. I doubt that hit did anything to get in the head of a tough ass like Welker.

Ehh Smith led with his helmet... I think the penalty was legit and a fine is a definite minimum here... a suspension wouldn't be crazy with Smith's history.

For all intents and purposes that WAS a cheap shot.

Agreed. It was a stupid play and I was cursing Smith when it happened. I can't imagine he gets suspended for it though.

    Thanks ................

2 of the 3 TD's the Jets allowed have been because of stupid penalties. That is just stupid.
