So these thoughts are scattered in just about every other thread, but I don't see one specifically for this so here goes. If I did miss one, feel free to merge.

This is not a defense of Zach Wilson in any way whatsoever. If you've been active on the board at all the last few weeks, you know that I have advocated for a change. But the change yesterday? You stuck with him this long, you ignored fan pleas, media pleas, probably private pleas from the team. You waited until the season was in the trash and finally make a move after he doesn't do anything differently than he normally did. he actually got them down the field within the final minute and put the ball in the end zone right before halftime. I mean, where is the logic and consistency in this?

Clearly, the move was made because it was obvious that the defense had quit and the offense had lost focus completely. But this wasn't the first sign of that. Why wait until now?

So typical of this decrepit franchise to wait until it's too late to make a move that everybody knew should have been made weeks before as a reaction rather than ever once being proactive and doing things with foresight.

Logic dictates that they have to activate Trevor Siemian from the practice squad next week. You cannot run Tim Boyle out there and expect the team to be motivated by it, and after benching Zach for no apparent reason other than just because, you can't by any measure of logic from him out there either.

Saleh and his staff have painted themselves into a corner where their only move is to bring up an experienced practice squad quarterback who also sucks, but we are well beyond play on the field at this point and deep into the world of team politics. Any other guy under center on Friday is just more empty lip service.

It all starts at the top.

Woody has a ton of money and bought our team even though his knowledge of football is lacking and his decision making is deeply flawed.

When he abandoned the team for a couple years and put his idiot brother in charge things got even worse.

Find an experienced coach with a track record and give him the keys.

Even let him pick his own groceries.

Also, tale the keys away from Rodgers and explain to him that we tried it his way and now we need to cut some of his friends who are not up to the task.

Yeah that's another great point, leave it to that fucking moron to bring in a guy who is on the cusp of retirement and let him basically run everything. I wish I could say you can't make this shit up, but clearly you can.

Tim Boyle was worlds better than Zach. Worlds better. I don’t care what his stats say, he knows where to go with the ball. He clearly understands concepts and makes the right read. Even on the pick he threw it was the right read on a must throw play. Rasul Douglas broke off his assignment and undercut Conklin because Douglas also read the play correctly and took a chance. Boyle is no prize at all but he has intelligence and confidence, both of which Zach has none.

Zach should have been pulled at halftime. That last minute drive you reference had nothing to do with Zach at all. The was a defensive penalty and Breece Hall doing Breece Hall things. Zach was shot and his teammates knew it.

This FO has some sort of affinity for not letting Zach go. Whether it’s a stubbornness to not admit they were wrong or some sort of empathetic guilt that they feel they did Zach wrong with the team around him, who knows. The plain truth is not only is Zach not a good starting QB, he’s also not a viable option as a backup because in year 3 of his career he still doesn’t understand basic concepts of professional football. Is he stupid, lazy, lacks the desire, has a learning disability….. we’ll likely never know. But what we do know is Zach Wilson is not an NFL caliber QB, starter or backup. Hell I wouldn’t even want him running the scout team.

Agreed completely, Boyle is not good, but he absolutely knew what to do and processed the defense much faster than Zach ever did.

I said it a week ago - Boyle remaining the backup has just been a shield for Zach Wilson. He’s here just so when the Jets finally put him in and he also sucks they can say see - ZW isn’t that bad.

The Browns just brought Flacco in and seem like they are going to continually shuffling QB’s until they get consistent. It’s what any franchise should do once they get to their backup QB.

Oh, and I agree with this completely as well. That was kind of the point of my post. We've all known this for a while, his teammates knew he was shot weeks ago despite what the coach has been saying. Very little of anything that has transpired in a positive fashion with this offense has been Zach Wilson's doing. The last two touchdowns they scored before this one were one that was given to us, and a running back breaking a dump off. He's done absolutely nothing since that Kansas City game.

Just lamenting the stupidity of the organization.

I think Simien has to get the start. Now that you've benched Zach, he can't just be thrown back out there. Boyle looked better at recognizing the defense, but he sucks too lol. Gotta see if Simien can spark the offense a bit.

You're absolutely right, but what "experienced coach with a track record" would want to come here with Woody in charge? An experienced coach with options would undoubtedly realize that whatever Woody says, he will always keep a spare set of keys, and the coach will never have true autonomy.

You know it's bad when the BROWNS look more competent and committed to winning....

This. No matter what anyone says about Douglas right now, there was a time when he seemed to be implementing a plan. Woody Johnson comes back, decides he wants Aaron Rodgers, and that plan was blown to smithereens. And now nobody even knows who's actually making decisions.

Saleh can't coach offense. His team philosophy is very defense oriented. This is quite apparent. Right now he is not a good head coach. He might change, but he doesn't have the right mindset or skillset to be head coach. Also, it's mind-boggling that ZW has been the backup this season. JD had multiple chances to get a better backup. That should have been a top priority.

The Browns, and the Lions. Two historically sad-sack franchises have seemingly turned it around finally, at least for now.

    We are in another category.

I just can't get over how long it takes our coaches and front office to make personnel changes. Benching Wilson is far from the only example of this, we've seen it with guys on the OL and at other spots a lot over the years. Our decision makers don't make changes until long after it's obvious they need to be made, at which point the season is usually over or we can't trade the guy who needs to be benched because the entire league has realized he has no value at that point.

We are just a dumb organization with no foresight.

And then when we do make changes it doesn’t make sense. The Jets line was fine in pass protection against the Raiders and decent for 3 quarters against the Chargers until the tackles got abused in the 4th.

So what do we do? We put in a guard named Glaser that got absolutely abused by Ed Oliver all game long.
