There have been a lot of rumours about Watson being unhappy and the possibility of Urban Meyer feeling that Fields and Lawrence are close as prospects. Let’s live in bizarro world for a minute! Jets - Watson Texans - Lawrence (First Overall) Jaguars - Fields (2nd overall) + 2nd + 3rd The Jets give up 2nd overall + 2nd (34 overall) + 3rd (98 overall). So essentially our 1st/2nd/3rd in the draft for a pro bowl FQB and we take on his salary. Texans start fresh with a star in the making on a rookie deal. They also relieve some of their cap issues. Jags get a player that knows Meyers system and can get his teammates to buy in. They also get a bounty of picks to rebuild their franchise.
While I'd love to have Watson, I wouldn't give up that much prime capital this year, and to our arch-rival. Maybe the 1st and the second this year and next year's second 1st but directly to Houston who isn't in our division.
What I don't get is why people keep floating Watson trade scenarios when he's already said he'll only waive his no-trade clause to wear that pansy Dolphins uniform.
You shouldn't post mind-bending threads during COVID-19. The hospitals are already struggling to cope.
I know this was speculated, but did he actually say this? And what if Miami is fine with Tua, and Watson REALLY wants the fuck outta Dodge? He'll have to move onto choice #2, or 3 or wherever. I've said before I'd trade our #2 overall plus all we got for Jamal to get Watson on this team. I know Watson just signed a new 4yr contract (mid 30's per) but Texans already paid his $22M signing bonus, so he'd come pretty cheap as far as a TRUE FQB. Heck, I'd even throw in Sam Darnold, who's white, so Texans brass would love him. I know our 2-14 record won't be too enticing, but he wants outta Texas b/c he HATES the Texans' org and the men running it. He wanted Bienemy to get interviewed (bad) because Bienemy is black. While we just hired Saleh who's considered a minority hire and the JohnsonTwins sided with the kneelers 2 yrs ago. Watson might see the Jets with Joe Douglas and Saleh and the JohnsonTwins a FAR better run org that's just missing a FQB.
Depends how close Meyer believes Lawrence and Fields are. If he feels they are close why wouldn’t he pick up 2 really nice draft picks. Fields also brings the intangible of believing in Meyers system that Day ran a variation of and that makes the Locke room buy in as well. It’s not a bad deal at all for them.
