I apologize in advance for the 9 millionth thread on Revis, thought this might deserve a new one. Please don't hit me (cowers).... http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/07/jets-and-revis-re-open-lines-o.html Jets and Revis re-open lines of communication to find solution for contract impasse » By Manish Mehta The Daily News has learned that the lines of communication between the Jets and Darrelle Revis' camp have re-opened. The parties spoke in the last 24 hours for the first time since before mini-camp to try to find a solution for the All-Pro cornerback’s contract impasse. About 48 hours before veterans are scheduled to report to Cortland for training camp, the Jets are apparently feeling a sense of urgency and realize that their most important defensive player may not show up. The team could theoretically offer a short-term band-aid solution that could satisfy Revis’ camp. Otherwise, both sides may examine long-term extension possibilities. Revis is scheduled to earn about $1 million in the fourth-year of his six-year rookie deal. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/07/jets-and-revis-re-open-lines-o.html#ixzz0vCB1o3Ss
This allows him to show up for camp and still keep face...obviously. Something most people always thought he would do anyway.
Just move some of the money around from the next two years of the contract into this year so he can at least feel some sense of "win". He's not getting an "Aso deal".
Just figure something logical out before camps starts I dont want anymore distractions around this team then there has to be.
By the way, I'm sure it isn't a coincidence that they re-opened talks with Revis the same day both Rex and Tanny agreed to extensions.
About 6 posts were deleted because a few posters all started goofing on something another poster started. Those posters did hijack the thread. But with the best of intentions.
So if Revis doesn't show up for camp will that void his 2 buy back years essentially making him a free agent in 2011?
Im sick of this. Isn't it an uncapped year this year? Just give him $60 millions for this one year then the rest of the years pay him $1. He will get all the money now and it wont hurt our cap when the cap returns. It seems more logical than paying $20 million a year for the next 3 years. Cuz our cap will be fucked up. Oh well lets see what happens.
