Yes, I like Mark Sanchez. Not that there's anything wrong with that. And it seems like I'm increasingly the only one. I know Sanchez isn't Joe Montana but I don't get all of the extreme criticism. I think Sanchez is solid, has a decent learning curve, and is a good leader. I do wish he'd stop doing model shoots but I'm not going to hold his pretty boy-ness against him. Bottom line: some of the criticism of him is a little off base. In all seriousness, some of what's happening with Sanchez is because of where he plays. There's a sort of reverse East Coast bias at work. If Sanchez played in Kansas City, we wouldn't be hearing how he hasn't improved since his rookie year. But he plays in New York so the criticism and harshness is more poignant. There's more media covering him and more media types on the East Coast covering him and the fact he went to a big-time program like USC also factors in. He's one of the most scrutinized young players in the sport. (Not to mention he has Joe Namath commenting on his play on freaking Twitter.) He's had shuffling receiver corps, revamped offensive lines and an assistant coaching staff that at times isn't all that good. Is Sanchez great? No. But let's stop acting he's like Tim Tebow. He's got real non-gimmicky skill. He'll come along in time. Now about those model shoots...
sanchez has played well enough to get us to the superbowl the last 2 yrs the defense is the biggest failure not sanchez is he brady no but he is good enough
Sanchez plays like shit against Denver and he will be shitted on and you will see furious hordes of people bashing him into the ground, He wins and plays good then he e will be the best thing since Joe Willie. That's just the way things are.
Biggest issue this year is he feels the pressure and bails.. His accuracy and reads when pressured are awful, which has to make Oline the no1 prioirty next year..build the guy the pocket and let him progress his reads .At the moment he is on pace to be the next richard Todd
You see the same things from Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. No quarterbacks feel comfortable when they're getting hit. We have to protect this kid or he will fail.
AFC Championship still irks me......when it was 14-6 and Leonhard recovered that fumble. We were in position to run out the clock and go into halftime 21-6 or 17-6. Instead a stupid fuck penalty on Woody that HAD NOTHING to do with the play put is in 2nd and 12 instead of 3rd and 2....That penalty cost us the Super Bowl. We would got the first down and drained the clock into halftime....ugh!
Tebow just went two games with out having a turnover. When is the last time Sanchez went two games with out turning it over in back to back games. You have to go back to week 4 & 5 of last season, and the NE & Phin game this season.
I agree but he seems more unsure this year and is not standing tall in the pocket..he looks jittery and is bailing out of the pocket too early at times. Teams are running the same blitz patterns to cause him to bail...this is something the coaching staff have to realise ( that doesn't mean playing the cunt that is Mulligan!)
Well im not sure, i mean, in all the games that sanchez looked jittery it was because the OL was not protecting him, like the ravens game. When he does gets protection he is looking solid, like in the bills game (except for that int)
Yes, we get it. You love Tebow Jizz milkshakes..... but this thread has nothing to do with him, the Broncos or UF.
If the Jets support Sanchez with a decent offensive line, a good back or two behind him, good WR's that he can settle in with and a strong defense the sky's the limit in terms of championships won. If they keep missing on part of the equation then he'll likely muddle through, never good enough to win a trophy with whatever part is missing on the year but never bad enough to replace. If they can't maintain the offensive line and the defense becomes leaky then he's Richard Todd all over again.
yes but sanchez is more athletic and can throw on the run.why they don't roll the pocket and let him throw on the run or give him the option to pull it down more is beyond me
Because that doesn't fit in either Ground and Pound or Air Coryell. There's nobody on the staff advocating for letting Sanchez do what he is likely to do best. Rex wants a ball control offense that plays the field position game and Schotty wants an innovative offense that uses lots of movement to unmask coverages and then picks apart opposing defenses from the safety of the pocket. How the Jets wound up with two such diametrically opposed views of what the offense should do from the two most influential people in deciding what it will do is beyond me. Textbook bad management above them in this case.
