So many people seem to want us to take D'Brick in round 1. Have you ever thought about Adrian Jones? He is a fine LT and will progress even more. D'Brick is not needed on this team at all. Our o-line does need help, but not at that position. I don't see why so many people are so bent on taking him. Adrian Jones can't play RT as we saw early in the season so trying to move him is pointless. Lets use the number 4 pick on someone that we actually need (like trading down and taking DeAngelo).

i agree, i'd like if they traded down, took deangelo or vernon davis and get a late 1st pick for mangold/jean gilles

Adrian Jones didn't impress me at all really. I would be much more confident with D'Brick and Justice or somebody else on the right side.

However, I am not a fan of drafting D'Brick at 4. I would much rather go Mario Williams in the case that we get a pick for Abe. If not, then we go Ferguson.

So, with only pick #4, we take Ferguson. But in the case that we have #4 and another pick. We take Mario Williams at 4 and a OT with the second pick.

Adrian Jones is the most overrated player on our team by far. I am not saying he is a bad player, nor am I saying I want D'Brick #4, but to say we can't draft a LT because of Adrian Jones is beyond ridiculous.

    Adrain Jones < D'Brickashaw Ferguson

I sure didn't notice much of a difference in Jones play at right and left tackle.

    He played average at best.

You said it perfectly. IF you believe that D'Brick is a true franchise LT that will be a Pro-Bowl player in the NFL you do not let a decent LT like Adrian Jones get in the way. For the same reason if you feel Mario Williams or A.J. Hawk are perenial pro-bowlers you surely do not let Bryan Thomas or Victor Hobson stop you from drafting them.

In addition, if Adrian Jones is as talented as all of the "Anti-D'Brick" people say that he is, he should be a fine RT regardless of being undersized. If being massive was the only thing that makes a good RT than Aaron Gibson and Mike Williams would be perenial pro-bowlers.

Adrian Jones is the most inexpensive LT in the league and he was our only lineman that actually blocked guys last season. I don't recall any DL owning him in a game while he was at LT... and he also proved to us that he cannot pass block from the right side.

LT's face speed rushers more often while RT's face power rushers... and his athletic ability for an OT means that he is much better off playing the speed guys. Very dependable LT... D'Brick would not be as much of an upgrade to our team as Young/Cutler/Mario Williams/Hawk/Davis would be. He's not extremely overrated... it's just that most posters on this board don't explain themselves well enough and it makes him seem highly overrated.

Not only that, but Adrian was average when he played at the LT position.

He was beaten several times by Jason Taylor in the second matchup where he was playing the left side. I am not saying he should have shut Taylor out in that game, but if he was a good as everyone has been saying he is he would have played a helluva lot better...that was late in the season too so I don't know how much he improved over the course of the season...

Having said all that...I still think Adrian can play...If we did wind up drafting a LT I would love to see Jones play LG...I think he could be a good pulling guard with his decent speed.

That's really not necessary...I have said in all my posts I am not in favor of drafting him, but I sure as hell wouldn't make a stink about it if we did like some have you have declared.

I should have better explained my comments. He is a decent LT who had his moments. I don't know too much about O-Line play, but I can see Jones at guard with his athleticism.

Either way no one can convince me that Jones can be talented enough to be a good LT yet at the same time he would be a mediocore RT.

Besides for the fact that this quote is completely unneccessary, no one in this thread that D'Brick is the next Jonathan Ogden. The argument is that a decent LT such as Jones is not a reason to pass on a LT that you believe will be a franchise LT.

bullshit a good chunk of the people on here believe that dbrick is the next walter jones orlando pace or ogden. my arguement is i think he's overrated. i think he's gonna be a solid tackle in the nfl but not a franchise tackle. so im not saying he would be a waste of a pick but there is plenty of SOLID talent in the draft to pick up a steal. a guy like eric winston in the second round. we need a franchise QB or RB. plus if this cba goes through tomorrow then we can make some moves in FA to beef up our OL. so lets hope and pray for tomorrow.
