Are a far more superior franchise than the New York Jets and it is sad. Their stadium was ROCKING last night for a preseason game. The pregame festivities were amazing. The fans were unbelievable! Very passionate and loyal. Cheered the whole time. Nearly filled the stadium for the first half. Me, a Jets fan at the game, felt terrible. Our home games suck compared to the Ravens. It was WAY louder and WAY more filled at kickoff for this game than the Bengals-Jets game I was at last year, WHICH WAS REGULAR SEASON! I don't know what the difference is between Jets fans and others, but it is upsetting. No wonder Sanchez played how he did at the beginning. Playing that amazing defense with that great crowd, I don't see how anyone could be upset with Mark. The Jets need to really upgrade their public relations department. Things have gotten better I guess, we have cheerleaders now, but it still needs to improve. The team is exciting enough to follow now, we just need to find a way to enhance the game experience at home. Overall though, I was very impressed with M&T Bank Stadium last night in so many ways. We need to strive to be like that.
it was like that because the baltimore ravens fans were well aware their ex-defensive coordinator and 3 ex-ravens were on the other team. i was also at the jets-bengals game last year and it wasn't electric because we turned the ball over within the first 3 minutes and quickly fell behind. although we won 26-14 or whatever, it was a somewhat slow game.
Put a good product on the field and people will come! JETS have dissapointed in the past few years and plus people are pissed off with the PSL's coming next year! I expect the house to be rocking for the opener but hopefully it keeps up as long as we are winning. I attend everygame regardless if it means anything overall. I have a great time and support my team (regardless of what the A**hole behind me says because im blocking his view while his lazy ass wants to sit down the whole game)HA I do agree that we need to be loud on Defense ...like Rex said use your home to the advantage and needs us to be the 12th man.
I hear what you are saying, i was at the bronco game last year and it really wasn't that loud during the first half, and half the fans left at half time. Part of that was the weather, but i say screw those fans. The fans that stayed were definitely into the game. Every time the broncos had one of their fake injuries there was a lets go jets chant going. I think at the end of the day you just have to be true yourself as a fan. If someone tells you to sit down or not cheer during the game then tell them to f off. This is football. I'll say this my first game ever was the colts game in 2006 and we were as loud as you could be everyone got into it. I think if this team can step up and be competitive week in and week out (maybe a bit tough), you will see a different jet crowd.
I'll give a few reasons why: M&T is right in the heart of Baltimore. Its easy to get to. You can walk if you'd like... Try walking to East Rutherford. eww. There is a lot less to do in Baltimore than there is in New York. So instead of choosing from 9 other options, they have maybe 3. Since one of those options is seeing Ray Lewis, who is their Joe Namath, and Ed Reed, who is their Don Maynard, on a day where they wreak weekly havoc when football is in season. They've won a ring in the past 10 years, thus strengthening a franchise. They also went to the AFC Champ game last year as well. They have a QB they can believe in. He's pretty good. Anyway, my 1st reason is the main one. But my logic is, and I don't own season tickets, is if you pay all of that money and sacrifice so much for the team you love - go see the fuckin game... otherwise its a waste of your money, and Woody already has it in his pocket.
I have another reason: Baltimore is a complete shithole and there's literally nothing else to do. Plus, the fans are a bunch of DC suburbanite rich people with a ton of disposable income, and, again, nothing else to spend it on. Plus, like someone else said, they have a good team.
you have the same exact reasons I do. reasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then 1 again say the same thing you just did.
i have always felt the noise at giant stadium on TV is always nothing in comparison to places like Pitt, Baltimore, Tennessee, or almost anywhere. Not sure why but the Baltimore crowd last night appeared louder then I've ever heard the Jets last season.
I disagree, my primary reason is that Baltimore is a shithole, which you did not mention. Another reason, rich DC suburbanites was also not mentioned in the slightest in your post. I agree that there a few similarities. But to suggest that my post was identical to yours.... well, that just doesn't make any sense. Please stop wasting my time with weak ass retorts like this. Thanks.
Their fans were great and I saw many who were clearly not rich, just dedicated to their team. I agree there is less to do in Baltimore too, but it is no excuse for our fans. And I have been to M&T Bank Stadium multiple times, even when it was PSI Net stadium or whatever and it has always been loud and a great atmosphere. I just don't see why our fans can't do this for a team who has been around for 50 years, yet Baltimore acts like this for the former Browns.
You have like a 9.6% chance of getting shot driving to the stadium downtown, the people are so happy to be alive when they get there, they can't contain themselves.
They have there own stadium and play in state in which the team is named. I hope before I die (I am only 17) the Jets play in their own stadium in New York. FUCK the New Giant Stadium!
Clearly there were mostly Giants fans in attendance that evening... http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=45112&highlight=giants+jets+fans I've waited a long time to bring that thread up because it offends me and the migrant worker I hired to take dictation as I am simply too busy counting my timeshares and consolidating my real estate investments to be bothered with typing. I think of it as manual labor in disguise.
thank you for reminding me of that post by 227, that was one of the best posts in the history of this board. if it would allow me i would put that whole huge post in my signature!
The Baltimore Ravens are my second favorite team in the NFL and I only like two. I allways wanted just a little part of the Ravens for The New York Jets since the word go. Here we are in 2009. We got "The Defensive Coordinator" to become "our" head coach. The numbers and consistancy speak volumes for itself, "Top Five Defense" for the last 10 years...what are you crazy..we got "that guy" to be "our" head coach...? You weren't estatic with that alone? Come on now...I would have been happy with a DB Coach, or a line coach or any coaching for that matter from The Raven's camp. Not only did we get "the coach" but we got some "high profile players" from that organisation. Are you kidding me? I'm a NYJ fan thru and thru, but when my boys are one and done it's best to believe that I route for the Ravens to beat the living crap out of anyone else because of "their Mentality". IMPERIOUSE REX!
saying its a shithole with rich people with nothing else to do is the same thing as saying there isn't much else to do. 9 options to 3. Its called substitution. its equal.
