If your looking or immideate impact, your most likely not looking in the 4th round. The Guys you get in the first two days are going to make up the bulk of the. I wanted to take a look at the picks in our division so far. Buffalo: 1 3 (3) Marcell Dareus DT 6-4 306 Alabama 2 2 (34) Aaron Williams FS 6-1 192 Texas 3 4 (68) Kelvin Sheppard ILB 6-3 239 LSU When Joe McKnight runs for 150 on you, its time to fix the middle of your defense. This draft seems to make up a bit for the reaching of last year. Dareus is a beast and Williams projects good as a saftey if he can become a bit more physical. Miami: 1 15 (15) Mike Pouncey G 6-4 310 Florida 2 30 (62) Daniel Thomas RB 6-2 228 Kansas State The Phins got good value at positons of need, but traded away more picks in the process. Unless the make a serious FA move Chad Henne will once again be thier starter and thats OK by me. New England: 1 17 (17) Nate Solder T 6-9 305 Colorado from Raiders 2 1 (33) Ras-I Dowling CB 6-2 200 Virginia from Panthers 2 24 (56) Shane Vereen RB 5-10 199 California 3 9 (73) Stevan Ridley RB 6-0 226 LSU from Houston 3 10 (74) Ryan Mallett QB 6-7 238 Arkansas from Vikings Every year we go into the draft worried about the number of picks the pats have. Scared they would end up for Jordan and Ayers before we even pick. Then they do this. Does this Draft Scare any Jets fan? I love Vereen, but see him as the young Kevin Faulk in thier offense. Dowling helps, but Ridley? What? Mallett is thier Heir appearent to Tom and I think perhaps the best pick the pats made. They have a Physically gifted young QB who needs time and plenty of it to give him.
NY Jets: 1 30 (30) Muhammad Wilkerson DE 6-5 300 Temple 3 30 (94) Kenrick Ellis DT 6-5 340 Hampton We all seemd to love the wilkerson pick and for good reason. The kid is exactly the pick we have needed for a couple of years. Ellis has some outstanding issues, but I trust our FO and am Happy as hell to have a big beast in the Middle for the future. They will both see rotational time right away and could be the anchors of our line for years to come.
Obviously NE think they have struck gold, but for me (and I'm no draft guru) I think they could and should have done better, maybe using a trade to move up. Out of the first 3 picks, the only one I thought was odd was Ras-I Dowling as Aaron Williams who I think is a better CB was still there. The Vereen pick has me scratching my head a little, I really don't see how they are going to use him, WR??? Letting woodhead go, surely not.
