It is official, and I hope that there isn't anyone else out there that is in denial.

    VERNON GHOLSTON IS A BUST

Why did I need to make a new thread about this POS? Here's why:

Interesting fact that makes me wanna puke:

In the past 21 years there have been only 2 defensive players drafted in the top 10 to never have registered a sack.

    1) The one and only Vernon "Ghost, Gladys, Huge Gash" Gholston

    2) Bryant Westbrook CB Detroit Lions Drafted 5th overall 1997 (however he had 13 career INT's and scored 3 TD)

After looking at the past 21 drafts dating back to 1989, Vernon Gholston is a without a doubt the #1 bust of defensive players. Overall he's in the top 5.

The only thing that makes him relevant (besides the draft pick itself) is the amount of disbelief that all of us have that someone 6-3 266lbs who runs a 4.6 something, benched 200lbs 30something times & displayed incredible athleticism at the collegiate level & draft combine event could not produce anything worth mentioning either in practice or on the game field. Its hard for us to understand this guy because we all know that if any of us had anything remotely close to those kinds of athletic abilities, we would have put forth a better effort than this guy ever did. At the very least, getting paid those kinds of $$s would instill some form of obligation to get better, run faster, try harder, push more.
He's never exhibited any kind of competitive fire or determination on the field,....never played with the slightest bit of a mean streak & has never really just gone "all out" on a play even if it meant he might end up out of position. He doesnt even to seem to like the "violent" aspect of the game itself.

My psychological profile of him is finally complete. He is,.....for all intense purposes,....an "enigma". Nothing else.

I agree he is one of the biggest busts of the decade, but you can not be a top 5 bust of all time without being an utter disaster both on and off the field. Gholston has stayed largely out of trouble off of it. He isn't a jamarcus russell, he isnt a ryan leaf.

Vernon is a horrendous bust, but he will get to ride into the sunset largely unremembered because the Jets managed to improve quickly following his selection despite the fact he was terrible. The other aspect that tends to occur with the selection of a top 10 all-time bust is that the team continues wallow in misery for quite some time following his selection.

That's the first time I've seen 'bust' spelled e-n-i-g-m-a.

Not sure if you consider the past 21 years "all-time" But after looking at all the picks in the top 10 from 1989-2009...he's DEFINITELY a top 5 bust.

I'm sorry, but who the fuck cares? It has been known for some time now that he's a huge bust. Why do people feel the need to constantly dwell on it?

We just finished off an 11 win season for only the 5th time in team history and are about to face the team that knocked us out of the AFCCG last year in a wildcard game. And THIS is what people want to talk about?

Congrats, you realized Gholston is a bust.

    this is some sad shit.

    FUCK YOU VERNON GHOLSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU WASTE OF TALENT, MONEY, AND DRAFT PICK.

    BUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is really aggravating, cause what does our defense lack? a defensive lineman that can rush the qb, that was suppose to be you gholston.

now every time when we watch the biggest bust's ever show on t.v, gholston and the jets will be on that list, that pisses me off.

    GO FUCK YOURSELF GHOLSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is already a thread on that.

Plus, God willing, da ghost is gone next year, and I figure we can reflect now on how historically awful he really was. Gotta keep it loose in here.

I usually don't give up on a player (on my team) that easily, but Gholston is an exception.

You can't get every draft pick right.

We had our own useless piece of shit pick top 10 with Tedd Ginn and his Family.

The only question we need to ask is "How much will it cost us to get rid of him?"

What a waste of a draft pick and so much money! Surely, even Rex will give up on him now.

At least he didn't cost us two first round draft picks and a fourth round draft pick like DeWayne Robertson did.
