im the league owner and im debating whether allowing a 1 point per reception rule. Doesn anyone else play that rule? Does it make recievers better fantasy players then theyre supposed to be?

i always liked that rule because it gives those Possesion guys a fantasy value... now guys like Terry Glenn And Keyshawn Johnson have little to no worth, but throw in the point per reception rule, and low and behold, they still get you five six points a game for the 5 grab 38 yard games. While Steve Smith goes and gets you 18 points per game for the 6 grabs, 85-90 yards and 1 maybe 2 td's. So it enhances the WR's value, and it does make the elite more valuable, but when you hit the middle crowd, there isn't as big a need, to search for that sleeper who could hit 6 td's this year at the # 2 WR spot...

I was the commish for my league last year and I put this rule in. I liked it just because it was another way for receivers to gain points. I had Rod Smith and it made him very valuable. I would do it.

Plus it levels the RB playig field. Now Brian Westbrook and Domanick Davis become upper echelon picks. I mean add in an extra 60-70 points over someone like Shaun Alexander who doesn't catch the ball and it gives a little extra depth.

I like playing with that rule.

This is my favorite part of PPR. It changes the RB lanscape completely. I love it.

No that would be absurd. A good fantasy player scores 300 points. That could be eclipsed by just the carries of a running back. Then throw in the yards and TDs and the RBs would be even more overvalued then they already are.

thats how i feel the 1 pt per reception rule can be, WR's are supposed to catch the ball. i think its a little much for example, that a wr has 7 receptions for like 30 yards and ends up getting 10 points for that. Granted a reception is much harder to do than taking the handoff, but unless they drop a deep pass, its almost expected that wide reciever catches every ball thats "catchable." Its kinda like giving the quarterback a point per completion. Its such an easy thing to do, it shouldnt be rewarded.

I set it to every 5 receptions earns a 1 point. I think this will benefit wide recievers more since runningbacks dont really have 5 receptions per game. Also 1 point doesnt tip the scale so much for wide recievers, but gives them alittle bit more to earn points.

I used to use 1 pt for every 2 receptions in my old league. I think not giving WR's any points for receptions severly undervalues them.

I am playing in year 3 of a keeper league. The commish tried to cut down on the overvaluation of RBs.
This is the third year for me in the league (I'm a charter member) and I made it to the title game last year, but I don't even know if WRs get any points for catching passes.
I'll go look at the settings now and post them here.

1/2 a point per reception is pretty good. I dont really like the 1/4 point per carry since 20 carries = 5 additional points but I have seen worse.
    Passing td's 7 points???
Peyton Manning is the best player in your league.

I just noticed 7 points for a sack and 9 for a int. That totally overvalues the defense.

Yeah, the league voted to change passing TDs from 6 to 7 points. (I actually retired at the end of last season, but got talked back into the league last month. It may be my only fantasy football league this season. I'm much more into the Pick 'Em leagues, as picking games is much more challenging.)

When I ran leagues passing TDs were worth 3 points.

Hey, I don't like it either. But, the league consists of active coaches/managers. So, I can live with it.

I actually don't have a problem with defensive players being worth as much as offensive players.
It goes against traditional fantasy football, but it does represent real football a tad more.
