bullshit, unacceptable... -rex ryan and brian shottenheimer on hard knocks I'm sure we'll hear that in next weeks episode too. Damn, that was a frustrating game for pre-season. I'm not going to overreact though.
Concern #1 has got to be Sanchez. Not only that pick but there were a couple of others that could also have easily been picks, and the same kind too. I'm not worried about the D.
sanchez is either rusty or has taken a step back regarding his reads. as the play progresses he's not reacting until its about a second or two too late. hopefully the speed gets picked up prior to week one. someone mentioned it in another thread, and i hope they're right, but one has to wonder how much the lack of gameplanning has to do with the shite we're seeing (great point btw - as it wasn't mine)
Absolutely pathetic. I really hope Hard Knocks and all the hype haven't been a distraction but I'm finding it hard to believe that it hasn't right now.
This team ain't winning an egg and spoon race, let alone the SB. Other than the running game, the offense looked devoid of any confidence. Ducasse nearly got Sanchez killed, why wasn't he pulled out of there sooner?
Our Run D looked STELLAR. The Secondary is lacking leadership, and we got picked off by a 2nd, and 3rd string QB.. Plus the Redskins had numbers of drops. We are running a vanilla toned down defense right now, but they could play better. Offense Sanchez needs to find Keller more often. The Pass to LT that was defended by Orakpo... he was lucky that wasnt a CB, coz that woulda been an easy pick 6. Mark needs to stop staring down his wr's. Gives the D an extra second to adjust themselves and know where hes putting the ball.
No need to panic here. The first team defense still has not let up a TD. The first team offense has been sluggish, but we know they have the potential to get it together and they will.
Lol I'm sure you meant first team D has not let up a TD, but the 1st O not giving up a pick 6 or anything is def a step up from last year!
Exactly. All we've heard all summer is how well he's studied, how hard he worked out, how he's going to be a leader, the "Jets West" or whatever they called it. All that and if anything, he's digressed. I'm not giving up on him. I'm just saying...
Im going to agree with the gameplan argument. This team is better than what we have seen to date. Vanilla formations and no gameplanning.
I mean, we are talking about preseason here. Preseason. What does it matter. The Jets never got beyond page 1 of the playbook tonight. The play calling was as vanilla as you can get.
What worries me is Sanchez seems to have it in his mind who is going to throw to before the play begins. Like they're working on incorporating the new guys into the offense and he is forcing it to them. I notice a lot of his real horrible throws are to Tomlinson or Holmes.
I disagree, he is clearly working his progression, you can see his eyes move around the field. It is just not fast enough yet. It is definitely a case of him looking worse before he has a chance to look better.
Yeah for sure. They have to step it up, and D always starts faster than O. The only thing is, with that schedule, if you fuck up in those first 5 games, you could be 1-4, 2-3 in a hurry. Having said that, there's no need to panic. Get it all out now.
Man, it is a preseason game. We're still starting the season 0-0 like everyone else. After that pick he looked alright and the starting D was lights out. Not that you want it to go this way, but this is a team that could win games scoring 14 points. I think to say he's regressed (which I assume you meant by digressed) is just panicky insta-reaction that is just silly. It's a long season...
With the o-line, Brick is trying to help or over compensate for Slauson and Vlad. That's a easy fix, he just has to concentrate on his role, and that's it. Running game is still great if not better, and as long as Mark can have more then 3 seconds to throw the ball we'll be fine.
The only time I saw that it was blatant obvious was on that pick. We all knew where he was throwing it. He's doing much better with his progressions, again it's hard to make reads when 3 guys are chasing or closing in on you.
