I want to keep this separate from the regular thread as I want to be able to get an idea for what people want to change next year. I have received 1 idea which sounds good for this league. It sounds like a good idea to me as it allows for weaker teams to be able to compete on a yearly basis instead of once in a while. other suggestions by me: set # of keepers(either 4, 5, or 6 not between 4-6) saving last 3 games of the year for divisional match-ups 1 catch = .5 points have co-owners for teams who don't show up/quit Tweak scoring(special teams yardage points increase???) Give 1 point for every 10 yards instead of 25 yards A 3 strikes and you're out rule(subject to owner vote during season) don't put guys on IR when they're out for the year, fix rosters on a weekly basis, etc. Cannot be enforced well but have a special teamer starter(starting KO-punt returner) just for another unknown factor for teams.(Utility man)
So is it that the round a keeper is protected in is the only round they're protected in - i.e. if you have manning as your r2 keeper anyone can select him in r1?
I would like a points per reception rule. In one of my leagues, we do 1 point for every 2 catches, and it helps add value to receivers that get a lot of catches, but don't get as many yards/tds I also don't think a point per carry rule would work out too well either, because RBs would have an insane value then
Yeah, plus a catch is a skill, getting a carry involves holding on to the ball when someone gives it to you, in fact you don't even need to hold it and it still counts as a carry. So yes to 0.5 pts per reception no to anything per carry.
I wouldn't be opposed to the .5 per catch rule. Definately no point per carry rule. I formally object to the draft suggestion but do think we should consider a lower number of keepers to allow for easier improvements to the less talented team. Either 3-5 keepers or 4 or 5 keepers. Personally i don't see a problem with people not keeping an equal amount to get a better draft pick, that is their choice and if they think they would be better served abandoning a player in hopes of picking up a better one in the draft then I say go for it. I don't think separate rookie draft would be a good idea and I'm not sure about special teams points. Last three games for divisional opponents would be good and maybe reformatting the playoffs to 6 or 7 teams instead of 8, giving the top teams a bye like they do in the NFL (division leaders + wildcards). My one big request is because this is a keeper league and hopefully will continue in the future, it would be best to make incremental changes instead of sweeping changes. Example: Change keepers from 4-5 to 3-5 instead of dropping it to 3. Also, one final though on the proposed draft change, it would penalize teams for drafting well the year before or holding onto rookies. Also, it undermines the idea of a keeper league if there is a chance you won't even get to keep your players. Finally, wouldn't it be ridiculously complex?
There will be no offline draft as we found out this year you don't need the same # of keepers in order for the draft to run.
Drop the # of keepers? No way. I think we should up the max to 7. losing your first rd pick for every keeper past rd 4. Id also suggest we change the Defensive points. I think it's a joke to award 1 point per tackle and only 2 points per INT or Sack. should be 3pt's. 1 pt per reception is more than OK with me. -1 pt for every QB sack is silly.
With the results of this weekends games I believe playoffs should be based on point totals instead of individual match-ups. It wasn't fair to me or Smizzy that one of us had to lose despite the fact we outscored every other team in the league by 50+. I propose a elimination playoff based on points, as in the top 4 point scorers advance to the next round then top 2 instead of basing it on individual match-ups. This in turn will give the title to the team that has actually deserves to win and not just base it on luck of the draw.
lol, you're answering me so seriously. Also, what if I really want to only keep like one player. Is that possible? This team is very bad....and if Fred Taylor retires I would really only want to keep Willis.
Yep, pending the voting wether or not we have a fixed # of keepers or not, you will be able to keep only 1 if the voting dictates it. I think minimum was 4 last year but you can dump the other 3 after the draft.
How is that round-by-round thing going to work? It's tought to understand, because if you put a player at a round and you must take them then technically no player should be stolen b/c you have that player you must take that round.
It's a protection draft. Example - I have Gates in second round and if someone wants him first round then they can have him but once it's the second round and if I want him back he's mine no matter other people's pick in that round. If I don't want him because someone dropped a better player then he'll be available to be drafted after my pick.
Another suggestion is to realign the divisions to make 2 8-team divisions where top 4 from each division makes the playoffs in a conference style playoff where #1 in conf. A plays #4 in conf. A or just the top teams of each conference get the 1 and 2 seeds. Another suggestion is to keep it the way it is but just realign the teams based on rank for example a division would have the 1st, 5th, 9th, & 13th team another one would have 2nd, 6th, 10th, & 14th, etc. This can occur every year to keep things different.
Lets all chip in $5.85 and move our league here. http://football25.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/34529 This is the homepage to my Keeper league on MFL. It is hands down the best site for keeper /Dynasty leagues.
