Hey I'm fairly new to the board so I was just wondering how many of us are behind enemy lines down in Broward/WPB. I've been kind of a nomad as far as Jets bars down here...Gatsby's Boca is the best for the big games but a bit rich to go to every game. Packy's in Boca is awsome too, and for those a bit further south Premeire Billiards in Coral Springs (or Sharkey's maybe? :beer Just wondering who you guys are and where you go. Would love to coordinate some outings over the offseason so we're ready to come out in full force come September. :finssuck:
I live in Delray Beach, used to live in West Boca, so my spot was the Bru's Room on Sample and 441, we had our own Jets room, but they closed down after opening up the big one on 441 and Hillsboro. So I also have been trying to find a spot, I like Gatsby's in Boca, but the cigar smoke kills me. Its hard to watch a game watch a game with cigar smoke blowing in your face. So last year I found myself moving around week to week, I usually found myself at the Bru's Room on 441 and Hillsboro, which is crowded as heck, but alot of the Jets fans from the old place have found their way there. But I still dont have an every week bar like I used to.
Yeah they opened a Brus in CS but I haven't gone there for a game yet...don't know how friendly it is to us. Ale House is just a Florida whore so they're out. I would guess Brus operates the same way...ie if there's more phins fans that day you get a tiny tv with no volume... Mostly the small bars are the ones that seem the best, but yeah the smoke is usually pretty brutal. Premiere is smoking (but a sick Jets turnout), so is Sharky's (decent Jets crowd but it's a coin flip on who's featured)...Packy's used to be great. Haven't been there in a few years so I don't know how it is now.
I'm in Springs so I'm down for a get together wenever. Mystikol is out in Parkland so I'm sure he'd be interested too. I never went to bars cuz my buddy has the Sunday ticket so I'd just go to his house but if I can find some Jets fans to watch the game with I'm fuckin there. Anytime ya'll want to meet up let me know.
Packy's is still full of Jets Fans. But what I want to know is who's going to the game September 26th? My gf from NY lives in Boca and gets season Fins tix; but I won't go without making sure I can tailgate w/ my Jets Brethren! :finssuck
I shall be going as it will probably be the last thing I do that's fun before I leave for the Air Force so I want to tailgate with my fellow Jet people as well. Only thing is I'd like to get tickets with someone so I have someone to enjoy the game with as I don't know any Jets fans personally.
Try Hammerjacks - it is the biggest Jets bar in South Florida as far as I know. It is a bar connected to Sparez Bowling Alley on University Drive in Davie bewteen Stirling and Griffin Rds......They have a fanclub and well over a hundred fans there every Sunday watching the game. Usually once a year they have a former Jets player there signing autographs. I used to go there a few times a year when I lived down there. I still get their emails and just got an email from the fanclub...they are taking down payments for tickets to the Jets-Dolphins game in September and are looking into organizing a trip to NY for the Packers-Jets game. They've been doing this for about ten years now.......check it out!!
This is where i used to go until 2 years ago... while the atmosphere is nice, the place gets too packed, the beer is watered down, and the food sucks. I know the guy who runs the fan club, his name is robert narcano. He's a real awesome guy. I find myself going to geronimos now... its on University past griffin road. While this place isnt a true Jets place to go to, they offer every game, nice calm atmosphere, and actual knowledgable football fans even if there arent jets fans. Im also game for getting together for going to the game this year and to tailgate.
Hey Doog, don't sweat the AF...I was actually stationed at Homestead AFB, where my hatred for the Fins was born! But I still might bring an umbrella to the game as it would seem dolfags like SPITTING at Jets fans, ala Rex.
Gatsby's of Boca is closing it's doors. In fact, they may have already. I've been going there since, probably.. 2002. I was told that the bar has already been sold and will remain a Jets/Giants bar on Sundays. Hopefully it'll be a tad cheaper too.. I can't tell you how many games I would go to Gatsby's over watching in my house. The fans and staff there were always awesome.
Yes, it is definately crowded....a little too crowded. If you like a quieter atmosphere then Hammerjacks is not the place to go, Narcano, yeah that's the guy who sends out the emails.......I never heard of Geronimos where exactly is it?
Never felt like driving all the way to Davie for a game too far if you plan on knocking a few back while you watch. We need to find a spot for all of us this season doesn't really matter where just closer than Davie.
I'm also in Coral Springs, southwest part to be more precise. Thanks for thinking of me. I'm actually going to be moving to North Carolina for grad school in September, so I unfortunately can't be a part of any of this for now. If I come back to south Florida after school, though: Week 1, 2015, it's on! :smile:
I'm seriously considering skipping it this year. I've been to 8 in a row and the night games just aren't worth it. The day games are almost 50/50 Jets fans. The night games are like 80/20. Last year I didn't get home from the Monday nighter til like 3am and had to work at 7 Unless I can find some amazing tickets I think I'm gonna pass.
