Anybody watching this mini series on the History Channel? So far, its pretty damn good and Bill Paxson is acting his ass off as Sam Houston. I don't know how historically accurate the events portrayed are but the story certainly seems more plausible than the run-of-the-mill John Wayne style re-enactments we've grown used to. If any of you history buffs out there got some spare time in your day, check this series out. I don't get caught up in mini series very often but I have to admit, this one got me cold. Enjoy!
I like it, not bad. I think they are going out of their way to portray Santa Ana as a monster but that us to be expected I guess. Liotta's character is great The show I'm really enjoying is Wayward Pines even though I hate M. Night Shyamalan
Agreed. I really am NOT a MNS fan. I think his efforts just don't close well. I hate his endings. JMO
Can I ask is this based around Texas independence from Mexico? I'm a keen fan of American history but haven't seen much stuff to do with texas/Mexico, I've done the civil war to death
This is Pre Civil War. Texas gets its independence from the Mexican Empire. I can watch History forever and a day. As Jet Fan knows those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it
I have this recording and so far have watched the first 2 hour episode. Pretty good and looking forward to the rest. Being they did not teach too much in NYC public schools about the era and area, I am at a loss as to how close they are to the historical truth. I know the History channel is usually pretty good in that respect but just curious if anyone is more knowledgeable about Texas independence could you enlighten me if they are on point so far.
