Just announced. He's blue-chip obviously. Ten years in the league so bound to go to a contender. Unfortunately, for several reasons, NYJ won't be in the mix for him I wouldn't have thought. They are a freaking car crash aren't they?
I said it in the other thread, but this is just icing on the cake for Watson. This move just ensures he is gone. JJ Watt just released a video stating that he requested the move
This move isn't a surprise. It looks like the Texans are going to be 27M over the cap and Watt saves then 17.5M. No brainer move.
I forget the game (years ago, Sanchez maybe) JJ Watt batted down (and possibly intercepted) a critical pass. He was so goofy on the quick clip celebrating with his mates...big smile, goofy redneck tongue, hands out, endzone cam explaining to his buds how he did the play. Hated him b/c he was so unstoppable! Then he did us just like he did every other team back then. Anyone remember the game?
If GB has the cap space and he would be a fit, which I think he would, they should pounce. The same goes for KC. I hope he stays away from Buffalo, NE and Miami, although if Miami signed him, they wouldn't have cap space for Watson.
They were releasing him regardless. He's been OK the past couple years but he's only really been above average once in the past five years and they saved boatload of money. I'm sure he knew that. And also recognizes he's not getting a ring there.
He’ll be going to a contender - I suspect a sure fire contender such as KC, GB maybe BAL. Still a force but a little long in the tooth so he’s not gonna play around I wouldn’t think.
I agree. I don't hink he'll go to a bad team just for a bigger contract. I think he wants to win and to go to a SB. He deserves that.
Could also go to the Hawks. Fills a need for them to get a matching rusher for Dunlap. Also, getting Wilson one of his friends might calm him down a bit. Edit: Pitt has to be the favorite though. Three Watts on one team...
Houston are a basket case but JJ Watt makes Dee Milliner look healthy. If he were on the Jets with his injury record and that contract, I’d want him jettisoned too.
Spot on. FYI, all the news here in LA substantiate that JJ definitely wants to go to a winner, not the highest bidder. As such, many analysts speculate GB at the top of the list, with other good fits being the Rams, Titans, Buffalo and Miami. I would hate it if he goes to Buffalo, if he lands in Miami it would tighten up their cap considerably. We need to stay the course and beef up our offense big time. I also hear thru the rumor mill Indianapolis is very interested in trading for Sam. Very interesting free agency coming up.
