There were a couple of different reports on Wednesday about what the Texans were seeking in a trade for the top overall pick.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that the team wanted two first-round picks and a second-round selection to move down. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Texans wanted to swap 2014 first-rounders while adding first-round picks in 2014 and 2015 and a second-round pick this year. No one has bitten and now McClain reports that the price tag has dropped.

Per McClain, the Texans still want to swap first-round picks this year and add a 2015 pick in the top round to go with a 2014 second-round pick. In place of a third pick in the opening round, though, McClain says that the Texans are now lookingfor a 2014 third-rounder. There’s no word on how far down in the first round the Texans would be willing to drop in such a move.

That’s still a big price for a team that wants to guarantee themselves the chance to pick any player in the draft, but the price could keep dropping from here if the Texans have their hearts set on moving the pick before their time is up on Thursday night.

You have to make this trade. We swap picks this year, give them our 2015 1st round pick, 2014 2nd/3rd round picks. For jadeveon clowney? let's make it happen. Andrew luck, Peyton manning may not be in our division but we have to eventually go through them in our quest for a Super Bowl title. This is a steal for us to land clowney. We missed out on sapp, let's not miss out on clowney especially if rumors are swirling that buffalo is interested.

Is this for any team(I doubt it?)

49ers would pull this off for instance. They have the picks, they just might be later than what the Texans cherish.

Clowney on that defense isn't even fair.

Not sure, but I'm assuming we have a better shot at landing him than them. I think clowney is worth it. I love the idea of depth but this is an outlier. It is jadeveon clowney after all. Imagine what rex can do with him.

Yeah I think they were initially trying to get the Browns to move up. (2 1sts this year limits the pool of available candidates).

I would be shocked if they're willing to go farther back than 6. Ultimately I think they stay put and take a QB, though I guess now the door is open for Atlanta. This could backfire for them though as they get stuck with a QB they don't want.

I would try to move back down instead of staying at # 1 but the Texans trade is more than fair for us.

They can have our first three picks this year and our first next year for the # 1 pick.

I think they're going to take Clowney and then trade him for the 6 and a 2nd rounder and take the QB they wanted all along who will still be there.

That might be Bortles if the coaching staff and GM get their wish.

Manziel might be the owner's choice though.

    Quinton Coples
    Jets 1st round pick
    Jets 2nd round pick
    Jets 3rd round pick
    Jets 2015 1st round pick

    For
    Texans 1st round pick

Would they do that? I'd be a bit hesitant. Coples might fit them better.

This would be a really bad trade for the Jets. If Clowney had played lights out last year and had 16 sacks and looked like Godzilla it would be a bad trade.

One knee and you can write the Jets Super Bowl chances for the next 3 years or so out.

Why would you throw in Coples when you can probably get it for just the 4 picks and probably less than that..the 3rd and one 4th instead of the 2nd and 3rd.

Would they jump down from 1 to 18?

I am taking this proposed deal they want is for teams in the top 10.

Actually none of the talk matters until 8:01 tonight and the clock ticking down..that's when everybody finds out what it would really take.

What?? Your poll doesn't match the thread title, and the idea of trading up #1 is insane. It's not something we have to do. If Idzik were to do that, he should not only be fired, he should be fired upon by angry Jets fans.

No one wants a stronger pass rush and a stud OLB on the Jets than me. No one, but making that trade would just be moronic.

The poll is clear enough for you to answer. Did you want me to add something else to make it easier for you to comprehend?

Listen, I honestly prefer the jets to trade down if there first choice is a wr. But for this unique situation I would not mind getting clowney. We still have to deal with the likes of luck, manning, Brady. This is a steal.

That is so unbelievably awful for us. I wouldn't even think about that without Coples thrown in. It would be pretty hard to justify without next years 1st either considering all the holes on the team. Clowney is a freak but our DL is already stacked. Guess I'd have to go for 2014 1st/2nd/3rd and nothing else just because of how good Clowney is but I'm not even sure that's worth it and it would of course send the Texans war room into a sea of laughter before the phone clicks.
