It's nice to see not everyone is dazzled by meaningless fantasy #s. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-bradshaw031606,0,1542915.story?coll=sfla-sports-front
You're stretching here junc, resorting to listening to this dullard's opinion. The injury concerns are certainly valid, as it seems like no one is sure when he's going to be ready to go but he's way out of line with his other comments. Someone should ask Terry how many HOF'ers he had on his team that won those SB's. It's also pretty ironic that he talks about Culpepper "just airing it out to Moss" as that was 100% what Bradshaw was about when he played. Horrible completion %, throwing bombs and a ton of INT's. The "he had his best years with Moss" comment is especially funny, as Culpepper has been with Moss every year of his career, except for the 6 or so games last year. Nice sample size, Terry.
Consider the source. Not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. Bottom line, they've got a much better team, offense and QB than we have right now. Not to mention coach, staff and defense. We are the worst team in this division by a lot.
I was just reading the article and Culpepper will wear #8 in Miami... http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-dauntenumber031606,0,6238617.story?coll=sfla-sports-front Sucks for people who ordered his #11 jersey on Miami, like my friend.
I happen to agree with Bradshaw here. Culpepper also struggled in 2004 when Moss was injured. He didn't say Culpepper would be bad, in Miami, he left that door open, he just said he din't think he would be successful. Culpepper has gone out of his way to embarrass himself over the last 12 months.... I have doubts about the guy too. How is it he got Childress so down on him almost over night? Red flag.
Culpepper did not struggle in 04 when Moss went down. He had his best year and one of the great QB years in NFL history in 04 when Moss went down. What was striking about Bradshaw's comments is they were exactly the same things that were said about him until he put it together.
I've always felt Culpepper was a little overrated, but to be fair, in the 3 games that Moss missed in 2004, Culpepper had a 7-1 TD-INT ratio.
In 2004, Mossed missed 3 games and was just a decoy in 2 others. In those 5 games, Culpepper completed 113 of 166 passes (68%) for 1179 yards, 9 TDs and 3 INTs, which comes out to a QB rating of 99. In other games, he was hurt and simply didn?t do much. For that season, if you exclude passes thrown to Moss, he completed 330 of 463 passes (71.3%), for 3950 yards and 26 TDs. Even if you assume that none of his INTs were on passes thrown to Moss, which is doubtful, his QB rating excluding Moss was 105.9. Culpepper Manifesto.
Let me drop some Culpepper knowledge. Nevermind any of that. Nevermind the fact that he's the most productive QB on a Per Game basis the NFL has EVER seen. Nevermind that he holds an 82.3 rating in the playoffs. Nevermind that he never had a defense ranked higher than 25th from 2000-04. None of that is important, because Bradshaw and Junc said so.
When you lead 5 to 6 win team it's a very solid year. The Vikings have had an ownership issue, a coaching issue and all kinds of personal issues during Culpeppers tenure in MN. Unlike the Jets Who have consistently taken a 12 to 13 win team and put up 10, 9, 6 10 and 4 win seasons with Pennington and Vinny a committed owner, GM and HC.
You are not seriously suggesting that the Jets had more talent during that time than the Vikings. That is laughable.
You failed to mention that during those 5 games he faced some of the worst defences in the NFL in 2004. 4 of 5 in the bottom one third of the league. The only decent team they faced in that period was the 13th ranked Giants. He played poorly against them, while racking up stats against the poor teams.
I've said this in several other posts but people always seem to want to ignore it. A team is just that, a team. Of course the Vikings have had talent on offense, but people don't want to recognize that he has played with some of the worst defensive units in the league every year of his career. 24, 26, 30, 23 and 26. Those are the ranks in points allowed that the Vikings defense has been while Culpepper has been there. The Jets have absolutely had more talent then the Vikings over the past few years.
That's a pretty good decoy don't you think? In that 5 game stretch where Randy missed 3 and didn't catch 1 in 2 others the ONLY impressiv day was at Indy where they lost 31-28. The other games were Ten, NYG(he was awful and lost to a 6 win team), at a terrible GB D, and vs. Det. The Daunte bakcers have been using the favorable sched when discussing why the vikes went 7-2 w/o duante last year when they were 2-5 w/ him- that doesn't apply whn it helped daunte? Nevermind he is 4 games under .500 as a starter while the team is 4 over w/o him, never mind he had 5 INTs in 2 playoff losses, never mind he beat the Sainst and Pakcers in the playoffs, nevermind he posted a 13 rating against a mediocre Giant team in '00 and a 63 rating against Philly in '04 it only matters he had great ratings against NO and GB! Believe what you want to believe but I can't wait for you to start whining about him when you actually watch him play insead of reciting meaningless fantasy #s. yep Chad took over a 12,13 win team that has only won 12 games ONCE in it's history and before Herm the team won 17 games combined the previous 2 years.:breakdance:
