T suggz Adam Schefter Terrell Suggz tears his achilles playing basketball, that's rough good thing they drafted Upshaw.
Ironic. I heard from a co-worker, Sanchez was at the gym (Lifetime Fitness) across the street from where I work in Florham Park, playing basketball earlier this week. These guys don't get it.
Huge shake-up in the AFC North. This is what Cincinnati needed to take the next step. Now they only have to deal with a transitional Steelers team and a Ravens team that has Ed Reed aging and Terrell Suggs likely out for the season.
Hurts the Jets, im counting on the Ravens to beat the Patriots next season. Hopefully they can still get it done, but this will definately hurt them and kinda makes there 2012 team worse than there 2011 team despite having a great draft.
basketball is one of the least dangerous sports for them to play in the offseason. They can get hurt, but they can also get hurt working out as well. Would i prefer they not do it? of course. But I'd rather them be playing basketball than hockey in the offseason.
Eh. At any one time, the 4 major US sports leagues have ~4000 active players, hearing a couple of stories like this a year sounds like it's decently often, but given the sample size, it's pretty sparse. And I guess you saying 'ironic' is the closest thing to a BALLED SO HARD reference so far.
On a personal level Basketball is the sport solely responsible for my ACL tear, Subsequent MCL sprain and several high ankle sprains. To me, basketball is the worst. Golf or maybe tennis would probably qualify as low risk sports.
I disagree. These things happens. I would never tell another play not to play any other type of sport out of fear of injury (unless it's something absurd like climbing Mt. kil like Dickey did). People can easily hurt themselves playing something simple as golf. Hell GMs should tell players to stop driving out of fear of getting into a car accident. Shit happens.
Golf, sure. Tennis... depends how you play. I never seem to leave the court with both ankles intact. Also picturing Terrell Suggs playing tennis literally make me chuckle.
agree and many, but not all, player contracts specifically indicate which non-football sports are "allowed", by contract. people do not realizr but bball is a physical game and real tough on the legs. the last thing these guys need is additional wear and tear on the lower body. even 1-2x per week. if i'm gm/owner - u can bet ur ass a guy like suggs would have it in there.
I have been fortunate to play basketball w/ a ton of different pros in various sports, I always wonder why they do it but it's good for conditioning and if they are going to blow out a knee or achilles it's probably going to happen w/ a regular workout.
I don't play golf, but what defines a sport? Is cardiovascular endurance a required element? Golf definitely takes strength, skill, and coordination. Is it danger? If not, I would argue golf is more of a sport than, say, auto racing.
