I agree with you guys ... it's one thing to draft the kid in the 1st round and hate the pick. But to get him in the 2nd is hardly something to be criticized IMO

Hate all these bullshit "analysts", but I am excited for this draft.

I learned not to listen to any of them. How many times do they need to be proven wrong until it becomes nonsense?

Ivory is at least = to a top 100 draft prospect as well.
We got as many, if not more, top prospects than any other team. Yet i haven't seen much buzz about the Jets being winners in this draft process.
The media must be convinced that positive Jets news will not sell.

Ivory would be ranked much higher than that in my eyes. The one thing he has over everyone else is proven ability in the NFL. All the draft picks are guys with talent who performed at the college level. The biggest question mark, obviously, is if they can translate to the NFL. Ivory has the talent and the experience at the pro level.

One of the best threads is Buffalophysco thread in the "National Football League" forum asking us if we are going to be "afraid" when the Bills select Geno Smith. hahaha Gold.

    Devil's advocate here:

It's not always about value. Geno Smith has been identified as not being strong willed enough to handle criticism or rise above when he's struggling (he sulks)..We all know NY is the toughest market for guys like that, and when you aren't surrounded by elite talent, you are bound to have some down moments in this unforgiving market.

That's how you could say although the Jets got great value for Geno Smith, it's a bad pick because he won't be able to handle NY.

(I'm not advocating these thoughts, or even saying that I agree - but merely explaining why Mayock and others might feel the way they do about the Smith pick. It makes more sense than "loving to hate" the Jets)

Personally I'm encouraged by the pick in that he's a great fit for a WCO and I like his production and impressed by his accuracy. I surely hope he's the answer and I am not against the pick what-so-ever just outlying what a lot of people are thinking re Geno/Jets.

they said that because he wears his emotions on his sleeve but thats only because he cares. Geno is everything you really want in a QB, just needs some seasoning, I have no issue with the pick and I hope our fan base starts to support him

That's not true. When they broke the news Mayock was quick to say that's a great deal for the Jets. Said there was no RB in the 4th even close to his ability. Also heard pretty much the same from the guys on ESPN too.

We all know these rankings mean nothing. Same with Kiper these guys make money to guess correctly and if you don't pick what they want they don't like it and will bash you for it.
This is FYI that everyone should know.

It is striking that only one other team had even 2 players in the top 25 (Minnesota), while the Jets had three (plus Ivory). Nobody knows how things will ultimately turn out, but IMO anyone who says this was a bad draft for the Jets simply doesn't know what they're talking about, or is just trashing the Jets because it's the thing to do.

I liked the pick at the time, but after thinking about it and seeing his demeanor I'm beginning to question the pick, especially since Sanchez is still in the picture. it's trading one QB controversy for another.

To me he seems to have a similar mental makeup as Vince Young which would be a disaster in NY. Coupled with no real plan as to what they're doing with Sanchez, no weapons on offense for him to lean on, and a rabid NY media that will just outright destroy the guy if he doesn't immediately put up top 10 numbers.

Maybe it would've been better to wait a year and take the safe picks this year, get rid of Tebow, get rid of Sanchez and start over with a QB who has none of these distractions tomorrow.

That was a surprise to me too.

Regarding Mayock being a douche, I thought he was less critical of the Jets than others, to be fair.

Also, the Pats had just two of his top 100, with all of their picks no less. Now, who says Mayock's the supreme expert, but is Mayock criticizing the Patriots for disagreeing with him?

I think we know the answer to that.

Yes. In the NFLN mock draft (with Eisen etc.) he was constantly referring to him as well.
