Probably the wrong area but Lawrence Taylor is sooo Screwed....of course if he knew her age he deserves it. Sucks if it's all true though, arguably the best Linebacker in NFL history, Though I still personally think Butkus was the better all round Linebacker.
I don't know, different era with different conditioning and different medical treatments, but Butkus was, in his day, a monster. He was a nasty hitter, and one of the best cover LB's the leagues seen as he often would cover tight ends and running backs in defensive schemes. Of course comparing players from different era's is always suspect due to the fact todays' athletes work out year round (for the most part) and have better medicine and training routines than 40 or 50 years ago, not to mention rules are alot different today than they were back then. When push comes to shove though I'd take either of them on my team in their prime
According to the book, The Blind Side, LT changed the way the game was played. Offenses had to put in special schemes just for him cause of his speed and strength. I'm not taking anything away from Lewis because he's heading to the Hall too.
According to the book The Blind Side, Michael Oher was a sure-fire top five draft pick. Don't get me wrong, I love the book, and Taylor impacted the game in a way few players ever will, but there isn't a B.T., A.T. football timeline as Lewis suggests. It's not like people said "Hmmm... Deacon Jones. We probably don't need to block him."
No, but supposedly the quarter turned stance that you'll see OTs take on passing downs where they face out as opposed to forward was first popularized as a defense against Taylor. Regardless, that entire Giants defense was insane.
LT and Ray Lewis are an apples/oranges comparison. Lewis is a roaming MLB, great run-stuffer and QB spy type pass defender. LT is in the argument for greatest pass rusher of all time.
It's not like I think Larry King is a reliable news source. I just hate the Giants. Fukk crackhead LT from here to eternity.
