I was raised in a rather strict household. I was taught that tattoos were lesser than. While I admit, some tattoos are beautiful, most are not.

When tattoos first entered into the western world, they entered through subcultures. Tattoos in the west were a mark, they had a story behind them. In the 1910s and 20s those people who had tattos were sailors, soldiers, convicts/criminals and whores. Not the most admirable professions, but the tattoos that adorned the bodies of some in these profession were a sign that these individuals had done something. Something interesting, something different.

Now tattoos are run of the mill. Meant for some cute bland college girl who's had one to many and wants to be edgy.

Also i just can't see teens listening to parents who have sleeves.

People who dislike tattoos for no reason are trashy tbh.

Well, I have tattoos on both arms, my kids listened to me just fine. Both went to college, one just joined the fbi. Don’t think the tattoos played a part either way.

I don’t have Tapatalk anymore, so I don’t know how to post pics, not sure I want to. But they are 25+ years old. Not the greatest compared to what artists do these days. From a different time, different life… but I don’t believe they hindered my success in any way shape or form.

That's pretty interesting because they are much more common in my generation(millenials) than in preceding ones. So i would think that you would get judged more, but glad to hear you didn't

Yeah, it was less common when I was younger than it is now. But the whole “tribal”phase was just starting, more and more people were getting them at a quick rate.
I’ve always been in family business, and then self employed outside of a few jobs. So I may have just not have been subjected to any discrimination like others may have.

When I was younger , I remember most people who had tattoos below the elbow were usually in the military. Everyone else usually had them where they could be covered by even a short sleeve shirt.

my dad has 2 very small ones , not even legible anymore, that were done by Brooklyn blackie when it was all underground.

Too black and white of a question. Not all tattoos are trashy but there are trashy tattoos

I regret getting two big "M"s tattooed on each ass cheek. Bending over to spell "Mom" got old rather quickly. I'm thinking of getting them turned into hand prints. Classier for sure.

My son's dog name was Waffles, got hit by a car so he got it in memory of his dog, and his friends thought it would be funny to get the pancakes and French toast

And nope, not trashy. All my kids have tats, i have tats. Just as long as they are well done, except face tats, there are very few face tats that i like.

I am questioning the value of this thread in the absence of embedded images.
