Press conference Thu, April 19 1:00 P.M. streamed live at newyorkjets.com. A whole alot of Blah, Blah, Blah....."it's a process". " "I want to thank all our scouts.....the many 1000s of reports"....blah, blah. It's amazing how these guys can say a lot without saying nothing. Tanny, Clickscales & Bradway will be in attendance. I bet nobody will hear anything new or interesting.
Same old “leave no stone unturned” b.s. that we are all used to... They can’t really afford to give any real information anyway so the whole thing is pretty pointless.
12:45 - Purchase bottle of Patron 1:00 - Take a shot every time Tanny calls the off-season a "continuum" 1:15 - Pass out in a pool of my own vomit
The words I am dying to hear from Tanny are "Wayne Hunter is under contract." That means we're drafting a tackle.
Only 2 Tebow mentions! It was a whole bunch of nothing. The only thing that sounded concerning is that they REALLY like Barron, they lit up when he was mentioned. Also, it seems as though we might get a Guard before we get a RT. They said they loved the depth at guard in this draft and if a high caliber one fell to them in either rounds, theyd look long and hard at selecting that player. OT probably gets addressed at the earliest round 3 if not later on. RB doesnt seem like a need to the Jets. It was all about reassuring that they liked a Greene, McKnight, and Powell backfield. I think we're still looking at Braylon, every time he gets mentioned Tanny talks highly of him and says we shouldnt rule him out. The way it sounded to me was, unless a high caliber WR falls to them at one of their top 3 picks (Floyd in the 1st, Jeffery in the 2nd, and Sanu/Broyles in the 3rd) they will probably look to addresses WR later, maybe pick up a flier or two. Tanny didnt rule out a QB, he said he wouldnt mind rolling with 4 again. If someone they liked fell to them in the later rounds they would consider it. Lastly, even though they mentioned this first, dont rule out players they havent brought in. They said theyve drafted guys who havent visited before and there are plenty of guys in the first round and beyond that make sense for them.
I hope that means if Decastro is there at 16 he's the pick. I have nightmares about taking Andre Branch with a Decastro sitting there.
I doubt that, Branch wasnt even brought up when they talked about LBs. When asked about LBs they focused on Ingram, Upshaw, Coples, and mentioned Irvin. If DeCastro is the BPA I think he'd be the pick.
