Watching the Houston game right now and God do we need a guy like JJ Watt. Explosive. Fast. Just an all out hard ass. We get a guy like that and it will completely change our defense. Please Tanny, take notes for this draft!
There might be someone in this upcoming draft with a familiar name who would fit the description you listed above.
I agree he is a damn good player, but J.J. Watt is just that much more explosive. This year J.J. had more tackles and had 5.5 sacks. He already has a pick 6 this post season and he seems to be in the Quarterbacks face almost every play. Not to mention J.J. Watt runs a 4.7 forty.
Which is why he went 11th over all instead of 30th. Not sure waht notes he's supposed to be taking unless those notes are finish4-12 next year so we can pick in the top ten.
Its kinda good we got the 16th pick, we can draft a potential star at almost every position with that mid pick. Hopefully we dont blow it and draft a bust.
And there is a reason JJ Watt was not there when we were looking to pick a player at the same position later in the draft.Mo Wilk is Mo wilk, not JJ Watt. Its not like we took a pass so we could get Mo. Great pick on MW tanny.
Not necessarily saying the Mo Wilk pick was ignorant. It's more geared towards him taking notes figuring out how to pick someone in this draft who can consistently be in the Quarterbacks face. We need an OLB who can really wreck havoc in the backfield.
Makes sense. Going to conference championship games shouldn't stop Tanny or any decent GM from grabbing top-10 draft talent.
This is exactly what I am trying to explain: Demarcus Ware - 11th Pick Jason Babin - 27th Pick Jason Pierre-Paul - 15th Pick Terrell Suggs - 10th Pick With our first round pick, we need a guy like listed above.
Every team would love any of those players. I don't understand your point. of this thread. You're trying to bash Tanny for not not drafting JJ Watt or the other players above. Mo Wilk is going to be an outstanding player.
Yes been widly talked about both here and in the draft forum. Keep in mind that in Wade Philipus 34 the responsibilities or the lineman are much different than what rex is running. Wade lines him DL up in the gap not over a lineman and the are expect to penetrate and creat pressure. Rex is using the more traditional 34 approach where, out side of nickle situations, the linemn are supposed to eat up blockers for the backers to make the play. This is much more like what the steelers run. If we are drafting to create pressure it will be a line backer not a as 34 downlineman.
Other than 2006-2007, what has Tanny done with our first round picks? Other than Revis, name me one other defensive player on our squad who makes an impression every single game? Name me one more superstar? 2010 Round 1 - Kyle Wilson 2009 Round 1 - Mark Sanchez 2008 Round 1 - Vernhon Gholston Round 1 - Dustin Keller (Good pick here)
Mo Wilk is a damn good player and will get better. JJ Watt was drafted much earlier, Not Tanny's fault. I believe with that 16th Pick we need to get the best available pass rusher, It's that simple.
Okay so where discounting years that he did great in the draft to prove a point ? That's awesome. Kyle Wilson was much better this season then his rookie season like expected and will continue towards being a starter like we have projected him being. Mo Wilkerson was a good DE and will get better, Was a nice pick. I honestly don't understand what your trying to prove.
Wilk is also a very raw player and probably would have been a top 15 pick if stayed for his senior season.
