"I guess philosophically I'm quality over quantity in terms of the draft ... every draft has it's own story to it."

    ugh.

Well his history proves that and he believes that. Hopefully he bounces back this year. The past 2 years have been kinda down compared to his older drafts. I got faith in Tanny. We'll be alright.

Slipped my mind, ok two outta the past three. For some reason I was thinking Gholston was 09 instead of 08. Granted we still got Keller but Gholston was huge.

And last year is too soon to tell. We took all guys who probably weren't starting in 2010.

I agree, give it one or two more seasons for these guys to mature and we see what we really got. I know a lot of fans are disappointed with the production outta Wilson, McKnight and Ducasse but that's just how the non-educated fans react. They come in and expect them to be super stars right away.

Back to Tanny's quote. Each front office is different. Tanny is okay with 3-6 draft picks every year. He's looking for the quality guys that will come in and learn and mature. More further North you have the Pats front office that are looking to stock up on picks and getting guys that will fit the system.

Don't count on it. We're going Ditka for Jake Locker.

    Bro.

    It's a 56 man roster.

    You take quality.

Depth can be supplied by UDFA and Cuts. (Think of how Parcells brings in his 'hold the fort guys')

You're valuing (at the bottom....)Smarts over speed.

I didn't say I would flip shit, just that people would.

The answer to that is unquestionably yes.

if the Jets didn't value quality over quantity then goodbye to many of our best players. Bye Revis, Harris, and our QB. I'm sure I'm missing more. They like a player and they go get him.

I agree he needs another 06.

Another 06 where two perennial pro bowlers are drafted and he gets plenty of young role players.

I'm hearing the 2nd round is where you can find the best value. Hopefully we can move out of the 1st, grab a second and a third. You know some decent players are gonna fall out of the second into the third if the value is that strong.

I don't think you can get a great 2nd and 3rd for the 30th pick in the draft. You'd be looking at 23rd-32nd picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds for it if my Value calculator was correct...

Is this really surprising? He's barely drafted more than 3 or 4 guys in any draft he's had.
    The results have showed, however.

I don't agree. Are we really looking for starters (save Dline and OLB)? From all accounts we can get that easily in the late first and late second. Get quantity.

Edit: I guess we are agreeing. I am drunk.

No, not surprising, and yes the results have shown...the DL has gotten old, the OLBs have gotten old and under perform, the OL has 2 out of 5 getting up in years. Shaky depth in some areas.

Tanny has made some very good moves, but the constant trading up hurts the team in other ways. He's too smug and arrogant to see it. He may prevent Rex from ever taking the Jets to the promised land (the Lombardi Trophy) by getting the team just good enough to compete, but not good nor deep enough to win.
