Tanenbaum was going to draft Chris Gocong in round 3, Tanenbaum thought he could still draft him after they traded down with the Eagles and get an extra draft pick in the process. One problem the team who he traded with stole his pass rushing LB with the Jets original draft pick. I heard this from Gil Brandt and Pat Kirwan on Sirus NFL Radio.
Hey, it's Monday on Thursday! After fleecing the Redskins in round 2, Tanny tried to get another pick by trading down with a 4-3 team, past several other 4-3 teams, for a 3-4 LB. The Eagles took Gocong, iexblicably. He doesn't fit there defense, but whatever. It's better to try and fail than to never have tried at all.
Old news buddy... Plus, this is all speculation and there is absolutely no proof behind it. If we really wanted Gocong THAT badly, we would have picked him at 71 and we would not have traded down! Clearly, our FO did not value Gocong as much as others.
Very true, in fact, I would bet there aren't any teams that get every player they wanted in a draft. Unless of course you're the Raiders.
He's a Falcon fan so why is he concerned about about who we drafted or where he thinks Vilma should play? Just remember Vagina Sprain. Its going to be listed next to Abraham on the injury report come playoff time, if the Falcons qualify.
The Falcons think they can keep him fresh and healthy by rotating him. It has worked with Rod Coleman. I think it turned out to be a win-win trade for all 3 sides.
who has the smiley of the smiley face beating the dead horse... If you have it please post it at the end of this thread...
Good luck with that. Good luck with that run defense, too. And don't forget to send out the search parties when he disappears for 3-4 games in a row.
He didn't fleece the Redskins. The trade was even from a draft value chart. You could argue both ways on this. Because there was so much talent that had dropped and there was an abundace of 2nd round talent the Redskins should have offered more. Or you could argue the Redskins normally pay more than the value chart and we should have done better. On the other hand you could argue we were lucky to get equal draft chart value as it was our desire to move down. But in reality both teams benefited. It was equal draft chart value. We got what we wanted and moved down and the Redskins were able to move up. Number 35 = 550 Number 53 = 370 Number 189 = 16 2nd round pick for value is equal to one round later = 85th pick =165
Believe it or not Abe will upgrade our run defense next year. We had 2 rookies playing for the majority of the season. One was a DT. We also had an NFLE International player on our depth chart.
