At this time last season, we were 3-12 (soon to be 4-12) and in the hunt for the top pick I believe. We were all looking foward to the offseason and what would happen to the team, who we would draft, the future of the our coaching staff etc...

Last April/May we had our new coaching staff in place and got finished with the draft and some of us were happy with the picks and some were not. Well whether you liked what we did in the offseason or not, most of us thought that this was a 3-7 win team (7 at best).

At the half-way point in the season or so this team turned a few heads and was playing pretty well, but most people still didn't think that this was too good of a team.

With one more week to go in the season, this is a 9-win team that controls its own destiny in terms of making it into the postseason. This "rebuilding franchise" that was supposed compete for the first overall pick in the 2007 Draft needs just one win to clinch a playoff spot in the extremely competitive AFC. And this win needed is extremely doable as we play one of the NFL's most struggling franchises in the Oakland Raiders (Although this won't be a gimme' win as there are no "gimmes" in the NFL).

They all eliminated this team from doing anything in the AFC and gave us no chance at all! The Chiefs, Jaguars, Bengals, Dolphins and Bills were all too much for this team to compete with... Well here we are now. We control our own destiny and some of those teams need us to lose just for a CHANCE to make the playoffs. Some of those teams are eliminated from the playoffs and some of those teams got swept by the Jets .

So how great does it feel to be a win away from the postseason?!

Never doubt the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!

i was just reading my most recent post which was 9-23-06 and i had to laugh at myself as i said something along the lines of this is not a playoff year it is more like an extended mini camp.

wow how wrong was i, its been fun watching this team although not looking pretty at all, grow throughout the year. whether they win or lose next week, make the playoffs or not this has been a successful season and a huge block to build upon in the next few seasons. i had absolutely no expectations from this team except to get them to jell a little bit and see improvement. so anything from here forward is bonus material.

oh how i was wrong about this team.

I was wrong too. I was expecting us to be 4-12 or 5-11. I am so happy with the progress of this team. I think we are really on the right track, and I'm glad we got rid of Herm.

Last year we all expected to be back in the playoffs before Chad went down, but ended up 4-12. This year we all expected Chad to not last past the bye week and for this to be a "rebuilding" year.

It sure is amazing how our expectations usually end up.

I still can't believe we are where we are this season...

And I don't think I will believe it until we/if we beat Oakland....

I'm still in shock about this team and I am enjoying every minute of it. Even without the playoffs this has been an extremely enjoyable team to watch this year. The playoffs just make it that more exciting.

We also played the Titans and Bills before they got it together. If that Tenn game was later in the season, we might be singing a different toon.

Regardless, this team HAS exceeded expectations, no question. It's just a matter of how much magic they have left. I'm happy with the season we've had, but I want some January games. Hopefully we can embarrass the Raiders and charge into the playoffs with a full head of steam.
