If the Jets' sign Stacey Andrews OT....Bengals & play him at Guard, would he really be an upgrade? He didn't dominate against the Jets' in there game. Would he play RG or LG? He doesn't really impress me. Jets' might do better & save money (caproom) by addressing the OL thru the draft. There's not much quality available thru F.A. at OL position....IMO.

The most dominating individual performance award in a bowl game....goes to Mr. Anthony Collins...LT - Univ. of Kansas. This is a player. This player is a must have for the Jets'. This guy has all the tools & a nasty attitude. He's only a junior & is coming out early. This player is big, mean & strong & growing. He's is as good, if not better than D'Brick is right now. I can see Brick moving to RT & Collins taking over the LT position.

This player not only has Pro-Bowl written all over him , but maybe Hall Of Fame...Potential. Better player than Long & all the rest of OL.

Jets' getting this Collins gentleman will greatly improve the Jets' OL for years to come.

Javan Haye DE Tampa Bay Bucs ...is also a nice R.F.A. I believe he requires a 6th rnd pick. He looked very good against the Giants in the playoff game. He would look nice lining up at DE or OLB & he rushes the passer very well.

Aside from McFadden....This Collins guy is the "JEWEL Of The Draft."

I actually like the idea of paying for proven talent via the FA market to mend our awful offensive line. This sets us up to bolster the defense and possibly add a big speedy WR.

I had an idea like that once, it was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

I agree with your point also, but if u look...there is a very weak F.A. crop this off-season, & why waste money on players that have only "proven" to be mediocre?

this is a very good year to get a OL FA. There are several players, who have experience, are very good and have about 8 years left.

this is complete BS, Brick sin?t a RT, he?s a LT. RTs are maulers, who are much better run blockers than pass protectors.

right now he?s maybe the 4th or 5th ranked OT, and you?re telling me he?s a Pro-Bowler and a future HOFer? Come on, say you like him and he?s good but that?s just ridiculous.

he?s a DT. and as far as i know, he?s not a FA.

as much as i know, the lowest tag for a RFA is a 3rd rounder (if tagged) every thing elese is flat out a trade.

Even if i?m wrong and he is a FA, why in hell would they be willing the give up on him for a 6th rounder? The team can decide what tag they put on him. He?s good, a 16 game starter in a good D and he?s young. If i were Tampa i would tag him with a 1st and 3rd.

    You?re completely clueless

  6. Yeah, sorry...he is completely off w/ this thread

Brick to RT? All of his strengths and weaknesses suit him better as an LT..why move him to RT?

Not a strong class for Ot's? Gross, Andrews, Foster, etc. This FA class is LOADED w/ quality, young OL's.

What are these strengths and weaknesses that preclude him from moving to RT? Subpar LT's are moved to the right side all the time. If anything, he'll line up against less athletic ends. He's supposed to be such a bright and talented player, let him learn RT then (provided we get a better option at LT)

Well it's a good thing we have Run_N_Gun to figure things out for us or we'd all be lost in the woods.

I must respectfully say that that makes absolutely ZERO SENSE....

Brick is a finesse player who IF ANYTHING plays LT - Certainly not the RT spot that demands a more physical player......

We have our LT - let him grow - No I didn't want him but, he's here and the Jets really have to work with what they have here and add the BEEF everywhere else on the line....

Is the voting for the awrads over?

There was one category I didn't know who to vote for and now I do...

    It's tied now.

  14. WHa? Brick has absolutely no problem w/ Athletic DE's in pass protection. He has shut down Terrell Suggs, Osi U., Taylor, Vanden bosch, , etc.Where he struggles is w/ physical straight ahead run blocking, and the occassional bull rush. Right tackles main job is to be the anchor in the drive blocking running game, and obviously to take on strong side DE's who typically like to bull rush. You will NEVER see Brick move to RT.

Frankly, I don't understand why everyone is so down on the guy. He's made ALOT of strides in terms of his development from year 1 to year 2. If you understand how technique works for linemen on the NFL level..I encourage you to watch D' brick very closely in any given game. He has come a LONG way..and when we finally get the rest of the line solidified..he may very well be an all pro. The OL is a very sensitive position that truly does depend on all 5 players for overall success. If there are struggles anywhere...everyone is gonna look bad. I had concerns after year 1...but after watching himn closely throughout year 2..I have absolutely no doubt that brick is gonna be a great LT for us..for a long time(Assuming he and Mangold get some help).

And you got that Andrews is mediocre from one game?

In fact...TF are you talking about theres alot of good young talent at OL in FA this offseason...Bell...Smiley...Faneca (aging)...Starks...Kemoeatu...Lilja...Mathis...

Love the move to D'Brick to RT idea though...few ideas make as much sense as putting a finesse, pass blocking athletic tackle at RT.

When it comes to offensive line help, the FA market this year is good enough that we would be worlds better than we are know by utilizing it.

It does not take much to upgrade a Clark or a Clement, who for all practical purposes are human turnstiles.

There are lots of names who are better:

    Faneca
    Flozell Adams
    Lilja

There is a host of others, but I don't want to look them up again.

The point is, we can definitely fix are offensive line in the FA market this year.

Now, I totally agree that if we are hoping to get a NT this year, the FA market is out and for that matter the draft is not much better.

Suggs will help if we get him. I have written Hayesworth off because the Titans have ample cap room to sign him.

Chris Long, Gholsten, or Laurianitus will be are #6 pick in the draft this year. I don't see it going much different than this and I would actually be shocked if somebody fell to us that we did not count on getting.

As usual...when the lites come on, the roaches run.

I saw 1 poster actually do some homework on my main theme....I thank you. Anyway, a hearing aide can't help the blind. lol:breakdance: :rofl2:

Anyway....Keep an eye on Collins...He'll be this seasons' Joe Thomas - Browns & last years Mangold. The guy is very solid. Barring injury.

Its deeper than that....It's like "Man-Love"...lol

Nah....Really...I've taped all the bowl games & I noticed after a while that I saw not many individual payers dominating or really sticking out. With the Jets' having such a high pick, it's better if more dominant players are available at the top of draft.

I see alot of good players, but few great players. Jets' might be better off if they can trade down with McFadden being gone. The 2 Long boys aren't worth that high pick {IMO} & Jake Long is the next Robert Gallery. Honestly...I started watching the game last nite to see this Ellis kid from VT, that supposedly manhandled Cherilus from B.C.; but what I saw was this guy I never heard of before last nite manhandle Ellis & whoever else came his way. He' strong & has very good strength & to top it off....he has a bad temper...Something the Jets' need. This Collins guy pancaked this Ellis chap & toss him like a ragdoll. I was amazed...tjhat's the guy I want blocking on Clemens blindside...."No Doubt".....And so would Clemens.
