Not to be outdone by the mass-media antics of Brett Favre and LeBron James, Terrell Owens has taken to the press to plead his case for a role — even a supporting one — in the 2010 NFL season.

On Tuesday, Owens told The Associated Press that, unlike some of the NFL’s “golden boys,” he has never been disciplined by the league. He defies the long-standing perception that he’s a troublemaker and points to a state of personal calm with the Bills in 2009, despite Buffalo’s off-the-hinges season.

“There were a number of times where prior I probably would have reacted, said something I wasn’t supposed to say,” the receiver told The AP. “I really had some restraint, very patient.”

Wednesday morning, Owens hit the airwaves to promote the second (irresistible) season of VH1′s “The T.O. Show.” Try as he might to pitch this gem, nobody would have it. Talk immediately moved to football — and Owens didn’t disappoint.

In an interview with 96.5 The Buzz in Kansas City, T.O. dismissed the idea of playing for the Chiefs.

“Me and Todd Haley, we don’t get along,” Owens told the host.

Haley, of course, was Owens’ receivers coach in Dallas in 2006.

But Owens made it clear to Boston’s WJMN Radio that playing for the Patriots would be a different story.

“I’d definitely be open to that,” he said.

“I mean, you’ve got (Tom) Brady there. You’ve got the great mind, coach (Bill) Belichick,” Owens said. “I’m like LeBron. I can go there and take less of a role, take less money and put everything aside and make it work.”

    That’s right. Just like LeBron.

T.O, Moss, Welker on the same team. This is not good for the league and not good for us! Mr. T has the power to prevent this from happening.

Are you actually suggesting that the Jets sign T.O.? As far as I know that's the only way to prevent it from happening, and I'm pretty confident that there is exactly no chance of that happening.

I would love to see T.O. with New England. Go ahead and deal with that headache along with Brady in a contract year.

I hope he never gets a job in this league again. When he was good he was a cancer who could catch. Now he's just a cancer.

At this point in his career, Kyle Wilson could probably easily handle him

    T.O is a changed MAN

Did you not see the way he acted with the Bills. There was NO drama in buffalo last season. Please you guys are pathetic. We are humans we make mistakes and we learn from them. You think T.O is going to cost trouble this upcoming season, especially when it is hard for him to even find work. T.O is a goddamn changed man. A fucking changed man that can still perform. If he couldn't perform why would you list him with the long list of elite receivers that Revis shut down last season.

You guys are ridiculous for ostracizing this man.

T.O. dropped way too many balls last year. He may still have something in the tank, but it's not enough to risk going further than the grocery store.

C'mon, you guys saw him last year. T.O. is a slow fade to black at this point. Great career, but now not what he once was.

He's 36 years old, has lost 2 steps and has suspect hands. It doesn't matter whether he's trouble or not, he's not performing and at 36 is only going to get worse.

Sounds good, lets get TO, Harrison, and then see if maybe we can get Burress out of prison, that should about round out or team right?

I would never fault anyone for getting old, let alone in a horribly unforgiving physical sport.

What I do fault Terrell Owens for is being a malcontent idiot. He burned every bridge there was. He should only go join that overrated quitter Randy Moss. Good luck, buddy.

    That's funny.

He had no option but to shut the fuck up and play for the Bills and he pretends it's evidence of personal growth.

It's like putting "model prison inmate" on your resume.

Ok first of all, I'm new enough to this board to not take your opinion for granted, but I'm old enough on this board to know that enough people have said you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Second of all, You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

I wouldn't pay T.O. to be on this team with your salary, and I wouldn't blow him with your lips.

I'm bored with you. Have another beer. Later.

Owens would tear that team apart. They lost too much team leadership over the last 12 months.

Yeah, exactly why I hope he DOES go to the Pats. It would be epic.

I think TO has another good season or two left in him. When put in a stable offense, he could still rack up 1000+ yds and 5-8 TDs, he's still physically gifted and put up respectable numbers in a putrid Buffalo offense last year.

The guy should take a paycut and head to Washington to reunite with McNabb it makes all too much sense (beef with Dallas, Philly).

I don't think he and Moss could co-exist peacefully in NE.

Only people like you (minimal intelligence) put TO on the list of elite receivers Revis shut down last season.

Everyone else has him on the list of receivers Revis shut down last season. I hope you can understand the difference.

I can't see the Pats signing him. They probably want to develop Edelman.
