Omar Jacobs, is the biggest sleeper, before the season started, he was a potential top 10 pick, now, where is he. Besides the injury, there is little to hate on him for, he has a definite position and pretty damn good numbers http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=134244 those 2005 stats weren't even a whole season, Charlie Whitehurst is a another, strong arm, good accuracy, he reminds alot of Drew Brees. He is coming off a minor injury, that was blown up in mass proportions http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=116343 Another is Jerome Harrison out of Washington State, its not his fault he is un heard of, i mean be honest, since bledsoe left, the cougars suck sum'n awful. He ran for 1,900 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns, including running for 147 yards against who? USC, I'm not sure, but i think he out-rushed Reggie in that game.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=164335 Another is Greg Eslinger C out of Minnesota, 300 pounder, ran a 5.flat forty time, and Won the outback, he has long arms, which are good for keeping back defenders, and reaching them when caught out of position. ANother sleeper is, Alan Zemaitis, out of WHO? PENN STATE!!, He had i think 9 or 6 interceptions, with a number of them coming in big games (Michigan State etc.) and he was a good red-zone defender, something the jets needed, and he could tackle any man that came up against him.http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/cb/alanzemaitis.html One more, and Last but not least, another sleeper is Drew Olson, If it wasnt for the QB that was playing right down the street, he would've been the hottest name in L.A, He threw for 3,000+ yards, 30+ TDs and less that 9 ints, come on, he is every thing a coach wants, and his competion pct. 64% yes, im serious http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=137200
Jerious Norwood.....hes my sleeper at rb, is the fastest rb behind bush and has great moves and instincts as a runner. He also can catch out of the backfield and is not afraid to take it up the middle or get banged around. only knock on him is his size at 5'11 205 but he has the frame to add weightand get stronger.
i want the jets to take either mario, hawk, or vernon and develop one of these guys during the season while we are fighting it out with penny and ramsey. hey, but then if we do bad enough, were in position to chose the real successor of curtis, his name is adrian peterson
Or the real successor to Chad Pennington, his name is Brady Quinn or Drew Stanton, or Brian Brohm (if he comes out early)
I would hate to chance it ... this kid had a great career at Mississippi State. The team he had around him wasn't anything to write home either. From the ESPN Draft Guide: 5'11" 205lbs ... 4.40 {40} A prime long-ball threat thanks to incredible quickness, speed and initial burst. Streaks through the line when he finds a crease. Can also bounce it outside, and run away from defenders in daylight.Runs with suprising power for his size, breaking arm tackles, dragging defenders, pumping his legs and always falling forward. Stays low and runs with great pad-level. Protects his body and the ball. Has solid hands, allowing him to catch on the run. Norwood has terrific work ethic, and coaches rave about his character.
if all stays the way it is, quinn is set to go 1 overall, i dont tihnk we will be doing that bad i think the 9ers are gonna have the honors to kick off the selections in the 2007 draft, but talent wise, the jets are in the top 5 selections then
Jerious Norwood RB Mississippi State, his size speed and strength will make his transition to the NFL a smooth one. Kellen Clemens QB Oregon, played in three different offensive systems during college, doesn't have great arm strength but is perfect candidae for west coast offense. Miles Austin WR Monmouth he's the next wayne Chrebet only bigger and faster.
Alan Zemaitis will be a first day pick, maybe as early as late 2nd round. The guy will be a solid starting cb in this league, probably as the 2nd option for teams. I went to PSU and watched him play all his home games the last few years. He's definitely a solid contributor on and off the field. Another PSU'er is Anwar Phillips at cb...i personally don't think his coverage skills are as good as Zemaitis', but he gets some solid reviews because he's pretty quick and still has unfulfilled potential. Look for him to go in the 3rd or 4th rounds as well (with an outside chance of being selected before zemaitis). Tamba Hali is falling down draft boards. IF we were still running at 4-3 defense, you 'd have to give this guy serious consideration with our 2nd round pick if he's still around (even late first). He was a top 10 talent in this draft only a couple months ago. Because of a slow 40 time and a mediocre showing (i believe at the combine) he dropped. This guy will be a steal for anyone that gets him in the 2nd (if he even drops that far). What a great character guy!
Omar may throw funny but it def gets the job done. Very accurate, and hes extremely confident in the pocket despite the fact he can run
