Now that one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time is here. Is our upcoming new season Super Bowl or Bust?
Rodgers had better win. There is no other option here. He needs to play like a future HOF QB. If not, heads should roll in the FO and CS. Gambling on older athletes has its risks. The Mets gambled on 2 older pitchers and so far, not good. Older pitchers have a longer shelf life than Older QB's. No excuses. We need a SB run this year with Rodgers on the field, not the IRL. If this doesn't happen and Rodgers isn't as advertised...... Time to break out the plank and someone needs to walk it.
Realistically, noodle armed Peyton in his last season could have taken last years Jets deep in the playoffs. R-E-L-A-X
Well to me Super Bowl is still too big of a dream. Without Rodgers we were looking at another 7-8 win season with no play offs. Now with him, we should make it to playoffs. After that who knows but AFC East is full of young hungry good QB's in Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, Lawrence, Lamar Jackson etc. Making it to Superbowl is still a long shot but at least we are now allowed to dream with Rodgers on board.
We should have a decent run at the playoffs this year and maybe next year but that's about it, I would say we've maybe a 5-10% chance of winning a SB which isn't great but its 5-10% more chance than we would have had with any QB already on the Jets roster. Still its hard to get excited about this when you look at all the quality young franchise QBs in the league (one of whom we could have had if the team wasn't so incredibly incompetent) - that's what this team needs (and never seems to find).
Where's champ when you need him? I kid. I just think this move has disaster written all over it. It's in some kind of foreign language, it may be a little fuzzy and illegible at the moment, something like carrot on our wayward son when I'm planting my vegetable garden nd then it will all become clear: there lies death. The New Dump is the world's largest mausoleum so for once the Jets front office will be accommodating us all . . . but not on purpose.
There are no less than six head coaches in the AFC who have WON A SUPER BOWL, so no pressure on the coaching staff whatsoever.
There's no such thing in the NFL as Super Bowl or bust, but for this to make any sense, we have to play like realistic Super Bowl contenders.
Yes. Anything less is a failure. You don't make such trades to just make the playoffs. 10 years later no one will care or remember if they make the playoffs.
That was last year KR. I really hope we get 35 yo Rodgers and not 40 yo Rodgers. The entire Jet Organization put themselves on the line for this guy. They better pray Rodgers is the HoF QB two years removed from the MVP. If he isn't.... There will be holy hell to pay as it will get real ugly, real quick in JetLand.
We lost 3 non-essential starters and no depth from last year so the team isn’t that different…. I believe we will get 37yo Rodgers, the one with a chip on his shoulder after Love was drafted. Let’s hope the training facility doesn’t claim too many pre-season injuries
Just depends how it goes. If the Jets play really well and lose in the divisional round or championship game and Rodgers returns for 2024, it would still be a successful season. The Super Bowl is a possibility though, which is amazing!
I was watching Greenberg on ESPN before and he pointed out that the Jets were 7-4 with what he described as "actively harmful play at the quarterback position". After I was done hysterically laughing, it really sunk in what a massive upgrade we are getting a quarterback now. It's really crazy if you think about it.
