Hey guys. I was googling Super Bowl III today, just looking for some general info on the game and maybe a cool desktop picture. I came across this site, written by a Colts fan, who provides quarter-by-quarter analysis of the game, through his blue and white rose colored glasses. The author attributes all the Jets success to luck, and all the Colts failures to referee incompetence. It's a very amusing read. http://www.hgwt.com/superbowl3/sb3_3.htm Enjoy.
The notion that the Colts were dominating early is true but they self destructed because they pissed their pants they were so tight. The Jets were just missing early because they were tight as well, that's were I think he got it wrong. The Jets were being dominated because they were tight not because the Colts were better. When both teams settled down the Jets dominated the Colts D Line which was the strength of that team.
A guy who was an old Colts fan threw me out of his bar in 1995 down in Salisbury, MD because I was there to watch Jets-Colts. It was an early season game and we blew a big halftime lead en route to a 3-13 season, but this guy was still pissed about 1969. I lived there two more years and had to watch the rest of the games at another bar, this one was walking distance from my apartment, too.
When the Colts left Baltimore it was almost as traumatic as the Brooklyn Dodgers leaving Brooklyn. Those were some pissed off hombres.
Maybe, but the guy was a deadbeat, never paid his bills and eventually closed down. Probably would have been a waste of time.
it's not luck. He keeps attributing all this "luck" to just missed stuff by the colts. They almost had this interception, they almost had a touchdown pass that would have put them ahead. But that's a part of the game! you have to execute on the smallest part. It's not luck, the colts didn't execute, and the jets did. Plain and simple.
Loser's lament. Luck, bad calls, shoulda woulda coulda. the Jets took what was considered to be one of the best teams in the history of the NLF and were up 16-0 with less than 4 minutes to play.
I did e-mail the schmuck! Luckily DON MAYNARD was only a decoy that day as he was injured vs the RAIDERS. If he was healthy, the score would have been even greater! He wants woulda;coulda;shoulda and I gave it to him! Plus our GUARD DAVE HERMAN had to be moved to RT and dominated his side of the line. JOHN SCHMIDT dominated the interior of the OL too!
