This time it comes right from the horse's mouth. ""We were the boys of summer. The drunk, speed-freak, sneaking-a-smoke boys of summer," Strawberry writes. "(An) infamous rolling frat party . . . drinking, drugs, fights, gambling, groupies." Strawberry's teammates from the 1986 championship team included big names such as Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, Lee Mazzilli, Ron Darling, Lenny Dykstra, Ray Knight and Mookie Wilson." http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9206320/Report:-Strawberry-writes-sex-and-drugs-expose
How can you not love those guys! If you've read the books about that team, the worst offenders were the scrub relief pitchers and the bullpen catcher. Outside of Gooden and Strawberry most of them were not that off the wall.
I'd be far more excited if Jeff Perlman hadn't written his '86 Mets book already. Which is great, as I've said before.
Don - Can you believe it???? Guys in their twenties drinking beer, chasing girls, and doing recreational drugs in the 80s?
