Last night sucked...no other way to put it. Holmes falls down on a sure TD, missed FG, dropped INT, lost fumble, unable to recover Brady fumble, bad penalties, missed sacks, giving up too many sacks, just a waste of a game, but need to move on quickly. Jets are currently the 7 seed for the playoffs and the two teams in front of them for a wild card play each other twice still. Jets next 5 games are against Broncos, Bills, Redskins, Chiefs, and the Eagles. Need to play like they did during the 3 game winning streak and take care of business against teams they should beat. The division is lost, but the season isn't.
I don't think you'll find too many Jet fans on this board that think the playoffs are in doubt; the problem is we need to win the division. I'm sick of going on the road in the playoffs, I wanted a home game, and now it looks EXTREMELY doubtful being behind 2 games (w/ tiebreakers) and the Pats having a cupcake schedule the rest of the way. Have you seen it? I'd bet the farm at most they lose 1 game of their remaining seven.
What happens if we beat the bills and the bills beat the Patriots again? How does the division record work like that? Or would it be because they beat us, specifically, they get the tiebreaker?
I would think it's then division record. Three way tie, you take the record between the 3 teams, against each other. Then if tied, think divisonal record.
only way to win division - Jets 12-4 Pats 11-5 Both teams have fairly easy schedules -- Jets have Eagles/Giants - Pats have Eagles....that's it 11-5 should secure a wild card - 10-6 might just because teams near us all play each other
I don't think any of us are worried about being eliminated at this point. The Jets have a very accommodating schedule coming up, if we're willing to take the (what should be) easy wins being offered. Even the tough games: We match up excellently vs Houston, Philly is in disarray, and the Giants are a December team about as much as we're a first half of the game team.
we don't play Houston - we have Denver, Buffalo, Skins, KC, Eagles, Giants, Dolphins Question is do the jets step up and finish strong or have a farve like shit show from a few years ago?
Patsies are going 7-0 over their final stretch...The schedule is a huge joke... You all will go 6-1 or 5-2...Wild card berth again but that has worked well playing on the road last 2 years...
I'm not doubting the Jets can make the playoffs. But I think they have a better chance to miss the playoffs than win one playoff game.
winning the division would be great -- hasn't helped the pats the last couple of years though...green bay didn't need it last year nice to have a home game and all but just not gonna happen this year
My bad. Someone told me Houston in conversation yesterday (COUGH Jetfanmack) and I just rolled with it. In 7 games, 4 should be walks (90% to win), 2 should be tough wins (Eagles/Bills 70% to win), and the Giants are a legitimate tough battle, especially with that pass rush and our haphazard protection lately.
I wouldnt pencil a win against Demver in. It is a game being played on a short week and traveling west to mile high that they should win. Those three things dont bode well given the Jets recent history.
I know all of those things should be considered, but if we can't step our shit up from this loss and beat that Broncos team, we have no business discussing the playoffs this year.
If we get smoked up in Denver and let Tebow kick our ass, then not only shouldn't we be talking playoffs this year, but we should be talking OVERHAUL THE ENTIRE ROSTER & coaching staff included before the 2012 preseason starts.
