http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-b...ant-to-make-an-enemy-out-of-me-205335295.html This mutha lover has lost his mutha lovin' mind. I think this sums up the pathetic state of mass media in general, and ESPN specifically, when a journalist thinks they are more important to the sport they cover than the athletes playing the sport. Of all the nonsensical things that ESPN talking pieces have been suspended for, this is the type of embarrassing nonsense someone should get a paid sabbatical for. Stephen A. is nothing without the athletes he covers. He should bow down and kiss their feet for the fact that they even know his name. But in fantasy A. land he's the one that basketball fans want to watch.
This guy is a joke and an embarrassment to ESPN. Didn't get to see him on first take but his radio show today was truly unbelievable.
The media these days seem to think they're changing the world everytime the speak. Their over inflated sense of self worth is ridiculous. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I was falling asleep when I had Epsn 2 on. He kept going on and on and I thought to myself why does he think he's so important? Facepalming kept me awake. Edit: I watched the video again fully awake and I agree with what he said during that 11min speech.
ESPN switched from reporting sports news to trying to BE the sports news a long time ago. They started following the Mtv blueprint of trying to supersede their own content. I guess that paid off because of the horde of witless lemmings that eat it up.
I very rarely watch ESPN. I'd rather listen to the Philly stations Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I can't look at it anymore and I don't want to waste my time hearing it anymore. It actually is sickening to me. That dreck then becomes people truths. I started tuning it out when things went bad for us in 2011, and the lynch mobs started howling across the media. And have shut it off totally by now. So some good came from that for me It's a fuvkin nightmare. Just gimme the games, and the pressers if I'm really interested. I try to find a select few who's opinion I value...hopefully directly from them. Not thru some fuckin idiot like Mark Malusis and the rest of these no basketball playin' mutherfuvkers, like Michael Kay, lol. They're fuckin' horrible
Stephen A just likes to stir the pot. He did the same thing to Melo earlier in the year. Many of these so called reporters think that if there is no story they can just cite an anonymous source and make something up as if it's true. Durant called him out on it. He wouldn't say that kind of thing while still under contract. Smith can backtrack and claim he knows a guy that said something, but crap like this is just pure gossip. These reporters need to focus on the game instead of speculating about who might go where next year when we still have a full season to play. People don't analyze sports anymore, they create gossip to draw big headlines.
But the basic premise of his position is nonsense -- that he matters and therefore he is important enough that KD, the athlete whose name he needs coming out of his mouth for his sole relevance, should be careful not to insult him. Nobody watches the NBA because they want to know what SAS thinks about it rather than the enjoyment of watching the players. But SAS thinks the two are obviously equal. What is he going to do, reveal private information he has about KD? Nobody gives a shit. Kobe gave some poor girl the black mamba in the backdoor until she cried out in rape, and the only thing anyone cared about was that it was funny that he had to buy his wife back into the mamba lair with a $4 million ring. SAS fills in the space between sports, that's all. But he thinks he is part of the sports world just because he knows enough people who have probably shared KD's dirty secrets. Is that what he really wants to do -- create personal news about players? If he did so he'd find himself out of whatever inner circle that has created the delusion of importance.
Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, what a fuckin' dorkshow extraordinaire. anyone who could waste even just a farthing of a minute of their life on that show is completely bent.
And yet they are the two big names left standing after the big ESPN purge. Tells you all you need to know about ESPN.
I'm embarrassed for anybody that believes that asshole is actually entertaining or otherwise worth listening to for a half syllable. The high water mark in modern sports journalism was when Jim Everett throttled that mealy prick on TV. Should happen to this asshole too.
